An article in my newspaper today "REVEALED:KEY TO LONGER LIFE" goes on to list 20 foods mainly fruits and veg. Professor Williamson has coined the phrase for them as "lifespan-essential" as they help you reach your potential lifespan. he goes on to say our lifespans are genetically pre-set and we can do NOTHING to change that. What about the studies on CR? are raw calories the same as cooked as far as CR is concerned? I can't seem to find any answers on this, any thoughts.

Blossom, I'll bet I'm not the only one who wants to know what those 20 foods are! Do you have the article handy so you can post them? Thanks in advance!

Well, look at Dr. Norman Walker, Paul Bragg and Ann Wigmore. Walker died when he was very old; I forget how old but it was real old! Paul Bragg died at age 93 surfing! And Ann Wigmore died in her late 80's, I think, fighting a fire when everyone else bailed. So, there's something to it. Although I kinda believe in destiny, I figure I'm doing this for quality, not quantity.

I BELIEVE you can turn Anything around. It's not over until you say its over, whether it in word or deed.

Everybody has got an opinion. The "NOTHING can be done to change it" is an opinion based on his understanding of studies. Our body does not read studies. It does what it wants based on input. Each body is different and responds great to some foods, not so well to others. Do what's best for YOUR body. I would say quality begets quantity.

I disagree. ;) I think that by choosing to rejuvenate our bodies at a cellular level with optimum nutrition (and LIVING foods!!!), we are capable of overcoming even the most severe of genetic troubles...

I also believe that neither Fate, nor Destiny, nor Science have any say, ultimately, over when I go or when I stay. My life is in the Hands of the only one Who knows everything, and in Him I entrust even the MOST frightening of my personal genetic dilemmas... and believe me, my family has more than a few!! :)

I have chosen health over sickness. I have chosen LIFE over death (raw foods, anyone?).

And I agree with the previous poster: it's about QUALITY OF LIFE over LENGTH of life, in the end, anyway.

Because we have all met the totally miserable 85 year olds... give me 30 years of glowing, vibrant, spiritually and physically-rich bliss over 85 years of existence, ANY LIFETIME!! ;)

I LOVE RAW!!! :D

I believe the whole point to longevity is about a great quality of life e.g. my 97 years young neighbour who works the whole day long in her garden in between hill walking and shopping trips. To really enjoy life at that age is the point. Nobody wants to be that age bedridden in a care home somewhere. The foods mentioned are all the things "we" are already eating.
