Hello all!

Today I'm starting my 7 day juice fast. I'm very excited about it and completely ready for it, because this past weekend I ate a ton of junk SAD food, and my poor body is suffering for it.

I've completed the MC 4-5 times, so I'm switching it up with a juice fast this time. I'm excited, because each time I did the MC, it was before I knew about the raw lifestyle, and I would feel better and lose weight but then always end up gaining it all back and falling into old eating habits. Now I feel confident that with each fast I begin, I'll be able to keep up with the good results.

So I do have a question though. It was reccomended to me to do a mono juice fast with apples. Meaning only apple juice for the 7 days. (freshly juiced of course.) I have no problem with that, as I love apple juice and quite frankly if I can gulp down the MC concoction for 10 days, I think apple juice will be cake. But I've noticed many people do not stick to one type of fruit or juice on their fasts. They switch up the fruit juices with veggie juices, etc. I was told the mono-fasting is the most efficent and is really beneficial. So my plan as of right now is to just stick to that for the 7 days. But I just wanted someone elses input on if that's the best choice. Apple juice for 7 days will certainly not hurt me, right? Should I be doing something different?

Also, I understand many don't do enemas or any colon cleansing during juice fasts, but I feel so much better doing SWF with fasts, and was planning on doing it every other day at the least. Is that ok?

Thanks for reading, and if anyone has any input, I welcome it!

I can only share what I did...

I last juice fasted at the beginning of this year. I would typically make two types of juice per day my standard was ... apple/greens/lemon and the other was usually grapefruit because when I did this my in-laws had tons of grapefruit. So, I did not mono-juice fast and to be honest I had never heard of it before.

I personally did the SWF about every other day and it worked well for me, but I do know that others have fasted for longer without using anything ... I think it's a personal preference.

Blessings,
Heather

I agree with Heather. It is a personal preference. I believe the only reasons why I would mono-juice fast with apples would be b/c it's on sale and if it's my fav. fruit. :p Also, everyone's disposition is so different given our different eating histories and maybe other factors I am unaware of.

I usually just go for water fasting. Cheap & requires less of my energy (no juicing, peeling or chopping :D). The down side to water versus juice is that water fasting only is very intense on the body -- DEEP cleaning, baby! Now if I were to juice fast, I would probably do it on oranges... for the vitamin C, price is 15/$1 , & I generally feel best on oranges as compared to other fruits.

You are your best answer. Maybe consider juice fasting on apples only for 7 days and see how you feel? Compare that to juicing with other fruits & veggies. You also may have to keep in mind that your results may not directly be b/c you changed up the fruits & veggies, it may also be b/c the longer you fast... your body becomes much cleaner. It's a little complicated. :)

Thank you for the replies. I'm glad to hear about your experiences. I've just started raw foods a few weeks ago, and this is my first actual juice fast, so the way I see it is there will be plenty of time to try out different fasts and different ways of doing them. Just wanted a little input to make sure I wasn't doing something harmful. I you guys writing back! I'm looking forward to seeing some results this week and to see if I can last a day or two water fasting. Have never tried it before and have heard it's intense.

Love,
Anna

anna -- definitely you will have time to tweak with fasting as you go along. i'm sure you'll find one that you prefer most. it took me years to figure out water was the one for me despite its intensity, lol. :) if you are juicing on veggies or fruits, i don't think you could do yourself harm except for w/ veggies... if you are using conventional veggies, then that might be a little toxic for juicing but anywho better than SAD eating.

if you're doing conventional, go for the fruit w/ thick skin. peel the skin & wash real well. i'm thinking it's better than conventional veggies. if you're all organic, should be fine. :)
