View Full Version : "Vanilla or Chocolate Pudding or Mousse" does this make sense as a recipe title?

Well I'm up to the 55th recipe in my recipe book and one of the last recipes I created was supposed to be a vanilla or chocolate pudding, but since I had already eaten my 4000 calories of the day by creating other recipes (I test them all to make sure they come out right and that I put proper measurements) I decided to refrigerate the pudding to have it tomorrow. Well I got hungry and decided to have some of the pudding that sat in the fridge for a few hours and it was very, very similar to a SAD whipped chocolate mousse. What a coincidence that the only recipe I didn't have right away was the one that would be transformed into something so great by unintended refrigeration!?

So I decided to change the title to "Vanilla or Chocolate Pudding or Mousse" and was wondering if the title's getting too complex with all those "or"'s lol. After all it takes only very minor variations to make the 4 possible outcomes (vanilla pudding, vanilla mousse, chocolate pudding, chocolate mousse) so do you think its ok to combine those 4 "different" recipes into one and have that complex title?

While I'm at it I'll post this one too in order to not torture you with m above descriptions (if I keep this up I'll have the entire book posted lol):

Vanilla or Chocolate Pudding or Mousse
A rich and great tasting pudding or mousse that can be made in minutes.

1 cup walnuts
¼ cup water
¼ cup agave
1 T ground flax seeds
Pinch Celtic salt
Seeds of one vanilla bean

For chocolate pudding, add:
¼ cup cacao

Process all ingredients in food processor until smooth. Wait several minutes for the ground flax seeds to thicken the pudding. To turn it into a mousse, refrigerate it for a few hours.

Why don't you call it Vanilla Pudding/Mousse. You could add at the end...for chocolate flavor add 1/4 cup cocoa. And explain how you get the mousse from the pudding in the directions.

I would shorten too......agree with snoops......chocolate as a variation.
This is very much like a recipe Rw Priestess posted several years ago but I don't think hers had the flax. Once I tried the avo/choc pudding I never made it again, because I forgot about it. The texture is great! Thanks for posting...best wishes on your book~

You could simply call the recipe Pudding/Mousse.

I used the flax to make the "gelatin" that firms up the pudding/mousse, I think the flax makes all the difference, it really was almost perfectly identical to a SAD chocolate mousse in look, texture and taste, I couldn't beleive it.

I don't like the avo based recipes due to the ripening, I always want to eat them when they're not ready and when they are ready I don't really want them anymore lol. I waste a few avos for this reason and also started buying much less and using nuts as an alternative which are always ready to eat.

I would give it a "real" name, like Heavenly Mousse, or Vanilla Delight. I would also make it into two or three recipes with different names. Do the vanilla pudding with raspberry syrup and give it a name. You are making me hungry, but I've already had two days' worth of food today.

I would go with "Chocolate Mousse" since that title would be familiar to SAD eaters (and especially appealing to raw newbies and those that are transitioning to raw). Then I would make the different adjustments in the recipe to make the "Chocolate Pudding", "Vanilla Pudding" and "Vanilla Mousse". Just my 2 cents worth...:D
