View Full Version : Seriously, now. Has anyone not yet tried a green smoothie?
My twinky dinky travel blender's been broken for 3 weeks, and I lost the receipt so couldn't get it fixed. I've been jonesing for one of my beloved green smoothies, but thought I could probably make it until the end of December when I leave.
Not so.
I went out today and bought myself a good blender!!!
And made a smooooooth green smoothie (sheesh, better than that travel blender ever did!). I wasn't even really hungry, just wanted one because it's been so long. Seriously, I feel like I must have died and gone to heaven. I feel like I'm high on something. All the sweet goodness and nutrition. My insides are doing like 100 back-to-back happy cartwheels!
Aaaaaaah.

I'm not sure which I would miss more; green smoothies or almond milk. I'm hooked on both. Never dreamed that would happen. :)

Green smoothies every day, though lately they've been making me feel nauseous. I read something about how greens are toxic to the fetus; wonder if it's true (it was in a raw book). I'm most likely pregnant and greens sure aren't sounding great which is a bummer b/c I used to mostly eat greens.
Now I'm craving nuts, which before I was only eating a handful of. Hmm.

Oh my!!!!!
Almond milk!!!! I TOTALLY forgot about that!!! I'm gonna make some ASAP. Sheesh, I'm going out of town tomorrow so won't have time to buy almonds, soak them, then make it. Sigh. I'll have to wait until Monday. It could be worse, I suppose!
Ah! I do have sesame seeds and walnuts though!!! I'm going to start soaking them in a sec!!!

I sometimes make "green soups" like this:
-3 tomatoes
-2 cups spinach
-3/4 cups walnuts
-2 T onion
2 T olive oil
-1 clove garlic
-Herbs
-Salt
It makes a really rich and filling "green soup".
I haven't had a green smoothie, or smoothie, in a very long time, I'm hooked on my milkshakes since I can pack in more calories (1000 in a large glass) without them becoming "undrinkably" thick. This green soup is also about 1000 calories.

I've never tried one and don't think I could. I can't stand fruit smoothies or any food that has a smooth texture. Like ice cream, milk shakes, pudding, etc. It just gags me.

I can releate to that. I like green smoothies (on the thin side), but I can't stand anything that resembles custard or pudding:p. Even persimons make me gag.

My daughter likes fruit smoothies but even the smell of those can be offputting to me. For instance, I can't stand the smell of peaches.
