I've been a vegan for 2 yrs, but this summer I had a early miscarriage and it freaked me out! I decided to give this Raw lifestyle another shot ( i guess 3 is a charm). Anyway, I want to be raw for 2-3 yrs b4 I plan a pregnancy. It's been 3 weeks and this time I love it. I feel like I have more of a purpose for it. I would love to hear stories of the ease of a Raw Pregnancy vs a Non- Raw Pregnancy.

I am pregnant currently with my second baby. My first I was only ovo-lacto vegetarian. It went super smoothly and didn't gain any extra weight and it all came off really quickly. My son was born healthy and happy :)
With this pregnancy I will remain vegetarian and I plan on transitioning slowly to raw as well. I have been high raw in the past and I really feel that this will be the best thing for myself and the baby. The only thing I am worried about is detoxing, I don't want to put my baby through that, so I am going ultra slow. One thing, I do plan on taking prenatals through the entire pregnancy, raw or not, vegan or not. I took them with my son and I am taking them with this. I know I get tons of folic acid in my green smoothies, but its a mind thing for me. I want to do everything right this time so I can be as lucky as I was last time!! :)

just think of raw as the next step after vegan. a healthy step. a step toward a purier lifestyle. if you think of it that way, then it doesn't seem so mysterious.
i started out 100% raw with my daughter and by the 3rd month i was having such a hard time with morning sickness that sprouted grain breads, pretzels and spelt crackers became my savior. however, i still ate tons of raw fruit and nuts and seeds.
listen to your baby, they'll let you know what you need. i craved yogurt so bad, but the moment i had her, i didn't crave it any longer. the protein made me feel good and it felt right for me and her.
labor...under 4 hours, no issues and a happy and healthy almost 8lb baby born at home.
check our jinjees stuff at the garden diet. she is a good example.
oh, i should add that i drank mom to be tea from yogi teas every day, took my prenatals, vegan dha, alfalfa tabs and did lots of squatting practices. i love being pregnant.
good luck.

It really helped keep hair and skin looking good. Pregnancy tends to suck all the vitamins out of the body. Eating fresh foods in their natural state gives your baby lots of vitamins and nourishes your body at the same time.

I had a whole foods vegan, 80% raw pregnancy. http://pullingdaisies.blogspot.com. Also Jinjee at thegardendiet.com has an ebook called Ecstatic Birth and goes into this - comparing her cooked to raw pregnancies. Also in the book Fit For Life II, Harvey Diamond's wife mentions her pregnancy and delivery after adopting the diet - MUCH different, only 2 hr. labor, etc. (that is also what I experienced; my first delivery was much harder! read my blog for more info) I also wrote for Pear Magazine during my pregnancy and after the birth in regards to this; www.pearmagazine.com.

I have been raw for nearly 3 years. Close to 100% for almost all of that time. Then I got pregnant, I felt aversions to nearly everything that I love - raw food!! I ate some cooked vegan whole foods.... Now that I have entered my second trimester I feel raw coming back on strong! I have been craving and able to eat fruit again! Yippie!
