I am planning to show the movie "Simply Raw" in two weeks.

http://www.rawfor30days.com/

I have asked many of our family and friends of the family to attend. I started thinking about it more and want to compile a little booklet I can give away (easy recipes, green smoothies, raw websites etc). I also want to prepare a small buffet of easy recipes for everyone to taste.

Everyone except my husband and I are meat eaters. So, I want something easy to make/prepare ahead of time, has a nice presentation, and can convince their tastebuds to do more raw.

I'd appreciate any input as to what you think I should put in the booklet or some raw recipes for the buffet. Thanks!

I have a little booklet called "The 10 Most Asked Questions About Raw Food" on my site. It's free. You can download it, make copies and add it to your gift.

Make some Fudgie Wudgies (google it), a great raw salad, raw "sushi"... nice, simple buffet. When they see how easy AND tasty it is...they'll love it!

Good for you!

I agree with others - I would do a salad, veggie tray, raw sushi, a lot of fresh fruit like sliced pineapple, grapes, strawberries, etc. People who are not raw appreciate the fruit but a lot of times are lazy and don't want to cut it up. They also like the familiar and a lot of raw recipes time time to acquire a taste for them (with the exception of a lot of raw desserts). I would also make up a batch of fruit smoothies and maybe dehydrate some onion bread or make the mediterranean almond bread (my favorite bread recipe).

Having great desserts will also draw them in. RP's brownies with storebought icing, a raw cheesecake, and another fall themed dessert of some kind.

Great idea that you are doing. I wish you the best!

Whenever my mother-in-law and sister-in-law come over, I'll pull out a raw dessert and offer them a bite and every time they are sooo impressed and asking for the recipe. She even said that there's no way I would feel denied if I was eating desserts like these. So, maybe have a few great desserts (macaroons, cheesecake, carrot cake) and a green salad with Alissa's ginger dressing (delicious) and a fruit salad with nuts sprinkled on it (bananas and rassberries, sprinkled with pecans). When I ate this fruit salad my sister-in-law made the comment "I'm jealous". Another salad she loved was simply cucumber/tomatoe/scallions/sesame seeds with agave drizzled over it and some salt. Good luck....there's just some many good things.

Thanks for the link Curly.

I think I would Go for finger foods:

Flax crackers with a cheese or spread like eggless eggsalad
Nori rolls
Veggies with more than one dip to try
Alissa's Pesto Stuffed Mushrooms
RP's Brownies
Alissa's Blueberry Pie was a hit with some of my SAD eating friends
Ani Phyo's Mango Cobbler has gone well to everyone I've served it to

Ok, I shouldn't be making this list while I'm fasting ... that's all you get :p

Blessings,
Heather

What is RP's brownies (don't know what RP stands for..). I will probably do a carob fudge ball with coconut (hubby is good at these), a nice fruit smoothie and a green smoothie (to show how easy and tasty it is to get greens), a few dips with veggies, some sort of stuffed veggie (maybe a pepper with chili inside) or a pate wrapped in greens, and a date nut torte. I'm not good at making nori rolls yet (have done it a couple of times, but I know the seaweed wrap will turn them off). I'll probably make the smoothies in front of everyone to show how to do it and how easy it is. I'll use almond milk too. Might make a banana ice cream. I want to do something with a little bit of heat to it because it's cold now where I am in the midwest and people naturally think of warm comfort foods.

I'll include the recipes and a nice handout of raw information.

I'm probably going to have to move the movie date since I just found a new place and have to move next week. Good, but bad (I HATE MOVING).

RP stands for RawPriestess. She used to be on this forum. She created the brownies...
