I have been reading about the Raw diet and bought a Dehydrator and jar sprouter this week. I don't want to do too much at first so I won't get burnt out. I do want to persue this for multiple reasons. I have been putting on weight quickly lately and need to get a handle on it. Any suggestions where to begin and other comments would be greatly appreciated.

Pick up Alissa's book and dvd's. It's all in there. Also, you might wish to listen to the first episodes of RawkinRadio (http://rawkinradio.com) where we talk about how to get started. It's easier than you think.

I got Alissa's book and DVD set and took off from there. She has the first half of the book about successes and the second half with wonderful recipes ranging from easy (most) to some more complex.
Eating more salads and drinking green smoothies is a fantastic start. You do not have to do the gourmet route to be successful. Sometimes it is fun making a special dish or celebration meal.
I wish you a happy healthy raw journey. It is awsome.

Welcome!!!
I jumped in all the way when I began and it worked very well for me!
I had fruit for breakfast, or a smoothie, salads for lunch (big ones with avocados or sunflower seeds), then for dinner I would have a nut or seed based dip or pate. I'd eat it as a dip or roll it up in a big lettuce leaf like a wrap. You can put sprouts, creamy dressings, guacamole, any vegies, in a big leaf and it's an easy dinner! Just get started and you'll learn as you go along.
I ate alot of dates when I went raw. I like to put an almond inside each date. It's like a little tiny cookie. Use the search function up at the top to search for recipes. There are tons here!! Drink lots of water. The trick at first is to eat enough so you aren't hungry. Later you can fine tune what you're eating, for now, just be raw.
Good luck to you !
Also, there are a bunch of fun "uncooking" videos on youtube.com
Just search for raw food or raw recipes.
