Weight Loss?

How difficult is it to lose weight on this "lifestyle" I cannot see how it would be hard to lose weight. But I thought the same thing when going vegan :D

How much weight have you "lost" and did it find its way back?

Im currently about 300 pounds. I want to lose 120 of it. :(

I have been doing this for 4 months and have lost 24lbs. I have acutally lost more than that because when I dip into SAD foods I gain again instantly. So I've lost probably more like 50lbs. :O If I would just stick to 100% I would loose a pound every other day.

So I say it's not difficult at all to loose weight on the Raw Lifestyle.

Love,
Angie

When I first started eating raw from a Vegetarian/High vegan (I had a slice of cheese about twice a week, no eggs, no other dairy, honey or animal products) I lost 10 pounds the first week, 30 pounds total in 34 days, and 40 pounds total in 60 days, then I tossed out my scale. SO, I am not sure if I have lost or gained, and I don't care, but just to let you know it does work, you can check out Alissa's site, www.alissacohen.com, and read some amazing testimonials, Also, if you look up Alisson and Yani on this board they both lost over 100 pounds, Truly inspiring.

I think when going vegan/vegetarian and not completely raw, you are still eating a high fat/high sugar/high carb, etc way of eating...basically, the SAD diet, vegan/vegetarian style, and that's why people might gain weight on it. When I first went vegetarian, I was told 'be careful.' and then people proceeded to tell me that they gained 10-20 lbs when they did that. Well, I never had that problem because I cut out a lot of the SAD foods at the same time I went vegetarian...

Now, following a raw food diet is a no-brainer. I stopped focusing on weight loss and started focusing on being healthy instead and the weight loss just started happening without me even trying. I don't go by a scale as much as I used to, but when my size 1 jeans start getting a little loose, then I know I'm losing weight (just so you know, I'm 5 ft tall and weigh 115 lbs and have an extra small frame, thus I wear a real small size - but I used to weigh 186 lbs 3 years ago) DH is at 75% raw and has already lost around 5 lbs. He's been trying to lose that for a couple of months now but being at 75% raw is what is helping him, too...

So yeah...it's possible and very, very, very, very easy!!

Over 9 months, I've lost 40 pounds. The weight loss has slowed down about the last month. I do have some more to lose, but I feel confident I will keep losing, just at a slower pace. That is okay, as it has taken many years to get as heavy as I am (or was!).

Blessings.

I also do a mix of things. Walking/running, step aerobics at home and very importantly...weight training. Sometimes I'll do Pilates for a change of pace.

I walk - less evasive to my body, and I rebound (I am not that good at it YET). I also do yoga and deep breathing exercises for the most part and then I rest -oh I how I rest. :D

15 hours per week. running 15-30 miles weekly. Swimming laps (hard) 3 hours per week. cross train with spinning, elliptical trainer, and rowing machine on non-running & swimming days. Weight lifting 3x per week and power yoga 2-3 times per week. It changes depending on the season, though.

...hmm....you'd think that I'd be skinny with all that. You'd be wrong.

How much weight have you "lost" and did it find its way back? I think it's very important to qualify this by asking if they have been 100% raw. Not to indict them, of course, but because that will be the only valid way of finding out what weight loss others have experienced in this 100% raw "lifestyle", right?

Also, once you get Alissa's book, I think you'll be quite inspired by the large section of success stories. In it are the people who Alissa coached. It includes their diaries/journals as they went raw including what they were eating, how their health improved, and ... their weight loss, of course.

agreed. I dislike that I wasnt 100% yesterday and today. What percentage doesnt matter if its not 100%, to me on what I set for myself.
