Basil sprouts?

I once say seeds to make basil sprouts. Do they taste like fresh basil leaves? I one bought basil oil expecting it to taste like basil leaves but the oil comes from the seeds which taste like licorice. So basil sprouts taste like basil leaves or licorice?

You can't really grow basil sprouts per say, because basil seeds get slimy like flax seeds when wet. But you can grow basil microgreens in soil or soil-less medium. I worked hard to grow a batch of basil microgreens, only to find that they tasted like a mix of basil and licorice, or actually kind of like Chinese 5 spice powder, if you've ever had that.
