Hi everyone!

Yesterday when I had to work on the Airplane I took some of Alissa's Zucchini Pasta (Spiralized and in a Plastic Bag), the Marinara Sauce, and a Walnut Pate Meatball. I also brought some Fruit--a Banana, Strawberries, and 3 Plums...

The reason I'm telling you this is that when my co-workers saw what I brought they said, "Oh, I can't do THAT!!! THAT'S ***WAY*** TOO MUCH WORK!!!"

I find it amazing to me that when people see the RAW food dishes I bring, they think preparing a RAW dish is TOO much work!!! WHAT!!!

"Actually", I tell them, "I made this entire dish in less than 20 minutes!!!"

They can hardly believe it, but it's true!!! I know that some things take longer to make, but when you keep it simple, the time in the kitchen is cut down TREMENDOUSLY!!! Alissa once said that she did not began to eat this way so that she can stay in the kitchen all day...and she's RIGHT!!! Sometimes I just need something to EAT and GO... And, how quick is it to grab a Banana and GO!!!

AND, speaking of Bananas....do you know how PERFECT a BANANA is??? It's prepacked... You don't have to worry about some nose-picking teenager who didn't wash his hands...dropping your Banana on the floor behind the counter and then picking it back up and cramming the BANANA in it's skin, right before handing it to you with a smile and a "Have a nice day"!!!
NO, I DON'T THINK SO!!! (two snaps!!)

O.K...I'm off my SOAP BOX!!!! :D

I don't 'hate' it. I tend not to hate anything, but it does give me a chuckle when friends/folks say that. WE know that it's not much work at all. Granted, some dishes are, but for the most part, no! To me cooking was a lot of work!

I just tell them what it took to "whip" that dish up and they are stunned. LOL!!!

Then they are the ones that probably hate it as to how simple it is.

It's just another excuse for them not to get into this healthy lifestyle.

They normally don't have time to say this for i quickly share the time that it took me to make, i just love bragging, lol.... Raw food is so much easier in so many way on top of helping you with your health. You will notice that your kitchen is way much easier to keep clean too. I washed my entire kitchen and usally you have fat or grease on dishes that you don't use and it was perfectly fine. I was just thrilled of how much work we safe with this raw life style.

Congratulations for inspiring others

People tend to be lazy. Especially people on a sad diet. I look at it this way. We work hard so our digestive tracts don't have to. ;)

What's interesting to me also is that when they make the traditional SAD version of Spagetti, it does take SOME time to prepare it... But, when they said that preparing the RAW Marinara Sauce and Pate was too much work, yes I do let them know how simple it really is.

Some people you just can't talk to, though... It seems like no matter how simple you tell them this is, they just don't want to get it.

I don't know...maybe I'm PMS-ing or something!!! :o

I had a friend same the same thing to me..."oh I couldn't do that it is to much work" and I told her the same thing...it really doesn't take that long. She has even been curious about my diet(she is on weight watchers) and has asked me for recipes and smoothie recipe's! she said she is going to make a smoothie this weekend. I also gave her some dessert recipes that are good and really quick and easy to whip up.

What they are missing is that what we do for a raw dish is done at the same time as what they do to prepare a cooked dish up until those same ingredients go into the cook pots! They aren't counting the cooking time - their stuff takes longer anytime it isn't procured from a drive-thru window! LOL!!

"real" pasta is definitely more work to make! i remember i was making pasta for an exboyfriend. i also had something else on the stove and something in the oven. trying to time everything so it finishes at the same time (and doesnt get cold) is super hard! haha

Laziness!!! Most sad eaters just want to go to the drive thru because they dont have to energy to make their food.

I think they often mean that it is too much work for them to learn a new way of doing things. They are stuck and don't want to stretch themselves.
And, many people never preppare their own food! It's all processed, frozen or, prpared. It is a little work to learn a new way of living, but we know it is soooo worth it!!!

I have noticed people who say it is too much work don't SAD cook either- they go out all the time- so they tend to say any kind of food prep is work. Yes, going into the kitchen and chopping is more work than going to a restaurant. Most people don't think of driving to the restaurant as work. Unless you just mono hand fruits even fruit salad takes some chopping. From what I have seen it is mass laziness and disinterest in any type of food prep besides microwaving or pouring from a box.

LOL Renee! I love your enthusiasm. While I enjoy preparing raw foods, I do feel that it's a lot of work. It takes me a long time each morning to prepare and pack all the food I bring to work. While some dishes take minutes, others take advance planning and a lot of prep and cleanup time. I've been doing this as long as anyone here so I'm not speaking from inexperience. Do I think all the work is worth it - MOST DEFINITELY!

I don't like spending a lot of time in the kitchen and I do eat 4000 calories a day due to how active I am, yet I spend less than 20-40 minutes at most per day to prepare those 4000 calories. Most of what I make is done in 5 minutes or less (including cleanup) for 1000 calories.

raweater.... what do you make that takes so little time? usually i have found that the denser the diet the longer it takes to prepare. unless you are simply eating alot of raw nuts out of hand and nutbutters spread on things.
burgers and meatloaf take time to mix up and dehydrate.

an avacado is quick but what else do you eat that makes your meal times so easy.
please share.

Some of my quick meals are:
Milkshakes (water, ice, walnuts, cacao powder, agave, coconut oil, salt)
Walnut pates (walnuts, veggies, spices)
Chocolate cake (walnuts, dates, cacao powder, water, salt)
Crepes (assuming you have crepes pre made)
Salsa on onion bread (assuming you have onion bread pre made)

All these things are easily done in 5 minutes or less and all of them can provide me 1000 calories at once.

thanks raweater....always looking for good dense foods for meals. i have always spent alot of time in the kitchen on food prep. i dont mind it but it takes alot of advance planning to have things ready for instant meals.
chips, crepes, breads, burgers and anything else that needs to be dehydrated to make certain meals complete.

unfortunately i am not one of those that can eat simple fruits and veg. i am one of those with picky taste buds that LOVES to eat and if it takes time to make the stuff... well thats what has to be done.
wish i could be more like you. the walnuts in the milkshake idea sounds good. thanks.

I wish I could say that raw food was really quick and easy.
It can be, but I love preparing food!
I spent all day in the kitchen yesterday preparing a raw gourmet meal for my parents. Aren't parents supposed to make their kids a nice meal when they come home from college? In my house I guess it is the reverse.

I don't do that all the time. There are many days when I get by pretty happily on quick, simple, smoothies and salads.

To make everything that SAD eaters eat would take a long, long time. But most SAD eaters don't make things from scratch, ever. That's why we raw foodies are so much more appreciative of our food and love food so much more than SAD eaters.

Always quick and easy over here!!! But I'm a salad/salsa/smoothie girl. :D

Although my man took me out for dinner last night (cooked, yes.... yucky, actually... I was disappointed after eating it and don't like how lumpy dumpy I feel today...) and it took the waiter 30 MINUTES to get us our food!! I could have made WAY HAPPIER RAW FOOD in half that time!!!

:D:D:D

I LOVE RAW!!!!

i'm with you hun! LOL i like a good tasty raw meal becuse i was a very avid SAD eater and the only way for the likes of me to stay raw is to make
analogs of what i use to like to eat.

that means meatloaf, fries, burgers, chicken wings( fingers) and all things mexican, asian and italian.

i LOVE food. i do envy people with simple tastes that can be satisfied with salads and such.
i need rich heavy foods to satisfy me and thank goodness you can eat what you like when raw.
thats the reason i am here.
yeah i want to be healthy.....but i want to be able to enjoy rich deserts and heavy meals. you can do that raw and still be healthy.

i like raweaters suggestions for food....she likes it dense and so do i.
but i dont mind spending time in the kitchen for something good.

i am afraid i am one of those people that does live to eat. we all have to eat to live but i really enjoy a good meal. LOL

Honestly, I try to make the most simpliest meals out of Alissa's book. Her Corn Chowder is delicious and takes minutes... I think that is what attracted me to her book. One of the first things I made of Alissa's was her Collard Wrap Sandwich and it's quick and easy to make and is one of my favorite meals! Also, knowing that Jennifer Cornbleet has Alissa's sandwich in her book made me want to try it...

I am so glad that there are many recipes in Alissa's book that are quick and simple to make. I don't think I would be able to do this lifestyle if everything was complicated...

I'm on an emergency extended trip out of state since my partner's mum just died. I have none of my beloved appliances: Vitamix, dehydrator, juicer, etc. Just a cheapie blender. I feel like I'm spending practically no time doing food prep but the people around me are so appreciative of me supplying them with nourishing food.
Eating raw is such a joy to share.
