hey all,
wondering: when juicing, do you NEED to add water to the juice? i borrowed my mother's juicer for the few days after my master cleanse, and she's horrified that I didn't add water to my juice. Now, I drank about 30 oz. of water alongside my 10 oz. of juice, but she's CONVINCED that it's DANGEROUS to drink fruit or vegetable juice straight. I've been looking for info on this, but can't find any. any help would be muchly, muchly appreciated!!
i don't think it's necessary or dangerous not to.
my family was also horrified that i was water fasting for 2 weeks. well, i'm still alive & well. :)

No juice manufacterer I have ever come across has ever advised to add water. I've never even HEARD of adding water unless juicing with a vitamix. It's not dangerous not to add water. I do it all the time. Juicing is dangerous if you are diabetic, though, depepending on your condition and what you are juicing.

i've read where it is suggested to dilute your juices... i never do though. i've fasted on juice a LOT in the past year and no ill effects.

The reason I've read to dilute juices if if you are drinking them all day long. Now I guess that would be fine if you were on a juice fast. But if you are drinking a ton of juice and also eating food, you could be taking in excess calories, or filling up on the juice and be unable to eat as much food as you should. At least that's how it works for kids.
If you are only drinking 10 oz. of juice in a day, I would see no need to dilute it.

if u dilute youre juices, arent you then also diluting the stomach HCl, which would make it HARDER to digest? my understanding is that you shouldnt drink water with meals because it dilutes the HCl needed to break down the foods. so wouldnt really make sense to dilute juices either, imho....

Dangerous????
The only warning I've seen about juice is not to drink green juices straight. I make juice that is about 1/3 green, the rest is usually celery, cucumber, and/or apple. Mixing with water? No way!
What kind of juicer is it? Does she still have the manual or recipe book that came with it?

I juiced some minelo organges last week that I added a small amount of water to due to their super sweetness. I have also done master cleanse in the past and the book does read to drink diluted juices to wake your digestive system back up after your cleanse to initially wake up your digestive system. Outside of that I normally do not add water to what I juice.

I am currently experiencing reduced mental and visual acuity, which I think could be due to the excessive amounts of juice I was consuming. (I was consuming lots for therapeutic reasons.)
I do not know what the exact cause of my problem is but my thinking now is that it could well be a combination of my exposure to electromagnetic radiation and fruit juice consumption. Both of these things are hard for me to get away from as I spend a lot of time in front of my computer and under energy saving fluorescent lighting. (I intend to get an anti-glare / radiation screen to cover my large LCD monitor and replace my fluorescent bulb for something safer, perhaps LEDs.) I am now trying to reduce the fruit in my diet, and instead of fruit juice I am making apple smooties (but consuming way too much!). I am as a fruit-addict at the moment!
I have had this problem since May, and it has profoundly affected my life since then. Some days are worse than others. Sometimes fasting helps and sometimes not (I just completed three weeks on mainly green juice with several two to three days in a row on just water). My ability to read is often impaired because of my reduced visual clarity and I have experienced brain fog which often prevents me from even posting in forums. I am not so bad right now, which is how I am able to post this message, but sometimes I just cannot get myself to do anything at all (my room is a complete mess).
Dr. Doug Graham (search his name on YouTube) certainly condemns juice, as it is a refined and fractured food (i.e. not whole).

Infinitus, I am so sorry that you are feeling unwell. I have no idea what could be causing those symptoms, as I too, consume fruit and spend most of my time under flourescent lights and looking at a computer screen. But I feel wonderful. I do get outside in sunshine and take a walk in the fresh air every day. Maybe you need more outside time?
I hope you find out what the matter is, as it detracts so much from your life. Have you consulted with any health professionals?
May you heal, and may you feel renewed, refreshed and revitified!

Thank you, rawstrength. I appreciate what you wrote.
I have seen my GP but I only get sick notes from him! However he is trying to refer me to a nutritionist (if this is due to too much fruit juice, then I hope a competent nutritionist would recognize my symptoms and make a connection), but this is not definite due to bureaucratic reasons (UK NHS). I am willing to pay a healer for a consultation, but I am unsure which one, or which type, to turn to. The problem is identifying a healer who knows about nutrition, electromagnetic radiation, and other things that could be the cause. I am not keen to spend massive sums of money seeing a lot of different people about this. I have heard that a lot of healers are useless anyway. I really don’t want to waste my money on them.
I am still trying to establish an optimum diet and I recently added green smoothies with whole hemp seed as well as avocado/onion/tomato/lettuce/ nori rolls (thank you Karen Knowler!). Since these new foods were introduced, things do seem to be a little better. I am also spending more time away from my computer (now the new semester is under way), so I will see how things go during the winter.

I seem to remember reading that you should dilute juice if giving it to children but it ok's for adults straight.
Infinitus if you feel you are effected by electromagnetic radiation the best thing to do is reduce your exposure. Avoid it as much as possible ie don't carry a mobile, don't use cordless phones, or bluetooth, stay away from trafo's. Also I think a crystal might help with computer screens. Check out powerwatch.co.uk it might help you to identify emf things which you didn't think about to avoid.
I dont think drinking a lot of fruit juice is good because of sugar content and I read some where that generally fresh fruit juices are the cleansers and vegetable juices are the builders and regenerators of the human body.

I am somewhat weak, concerning self discipline, at the moment. I think I have been over doing things with the fasting (I am well below where 'they' say I should be on the BMI chart) and avoidance of certain foods over the past 18-months. This means that it is hard for me to remove fruit and PC time from my life, but I am sure I will be able to before too long.
However if I was told directly that these things are to blame, or at least have been known to produce the symptoms I am experiencing, then they would go straight away, and for as long as it takes! Currently, I am just rolling along.

Low body weight and eating too little could be causing your symptoms. I've been there (I once weighted 85 pounds) and felt the dizziness, etc.
The good thing is that hunger is easy to fix! It just takes eating, healthily, and in moderation :) .

I need to work on that moderation part!
