I decided to slowly go raw by eating raw for lunch and breakfast and then the old way for dinner. Yesterday I had 2 bananas for breakfast, a big plate of fruit and another plate of salad with 2 hard boiled eggs, for dinner was whole wheat pasta, marinara sauce and chicken with garlic bread.

Today I had 2 pears and part of a green banana. Suddenly around 11pm I was so nauseous that I had to stop talking to my boss to turn around and heave in a trash can! My stomach hurt, the nauseous continued and was so bad I couldn't even talk to anyone or move else I'll heave but not actually throw up.

Went home early and continued to feel horrible but with some sharp pains in my abdomen. My stomach still hurts and I'm a little nauseous but I made chicken noodle soup and ate it just fine, can talk, did laundry so the horrible nausea is gone.

Could this be due to the raw fruit?

How did you ease into going raw?

Christine

It could be, but not likely. Wouldn't you have noticed it before? Have you never eaten raw fruit before? I can't eat most raw fruit because it causes me to have terrible stomach pains. But I also have diabetes so fruit isn't something I should eat much of. I can handle an apple or a pear but not any melons. Bananas are generally considered soothing to the stomach and are something you should eat with an upset stomach. To me it doesn't sound like you are easing into a raw diet at all but are eating a pretty typical diet for an American.

I've normally not eaten fruit or vegetables at all. So a lot of fruit like I've eaten the last 2 days is unusual.

I wonder if I don't have an ulcer or something anyway. The GERD was really bad for several days before I started adding more fruit. But I didn't have any pain like and ulcer normally gives.

Just curious, but what did you eat? I can't imagine eating no fruit or vegetables at all. Now granted, I don't do much fruit but I do eat a lot of vegetables and always have.

Yeah, I've read that you should never eat produce that isn't ripe. That could be a cause of it...sometimes I will have an under-ripe banana and it will make me feel queasy a bit. Also, could the meat you ate have been the cause of it?

I personally don't think it's the "raw" fruit that made you ill. Look at what you ate. You did good b-fast and lunch, but then topped it off w/hard boiled eggs (YUCK - sorry, but they are gross) and pasta and meat. That's heavy. You were being kind to your stomach, but then plopped a heavy, heavy meal on top of it, then tried being kind when your body was trying to digest ALL that you put in it.

First of all, you did gr8 eating fruits first. That's important. Fruits go through our digestive track way quicker then other "heavy" meals. One should always eat fruit first and then heavier. If not, the fruit ferments on top of the heavy meal, trying to digest and thus upset stomach and such.

Second, are you drinking water to help flush the years of gunk out of your system?

Third, how late did you eat your SAD dinner?

All these kinds of things factor into what happened.

I don't think part of a green banana is gonna upset one's stomach to the point of fire hydrant vomiting.

Don't blame the fruit, please. Blame the process you attempted. Maybe do some green smoothie for breakfast, your SAD meal, if you must for lunch and then a lighter meal - all raw for dinner, like a nice salad?

You had no greens from what you wrote. Greens are very important.

Just my perspective on this...

I agree with the green banana theory...I have heard that with fruit, but particularily with bananas. Ripe banaas help with constipation, and unripe ones create it....something about them being binding or something.

And sounds like your banana was very unripe!

You are going to go through some detox if you rarely eat fruits and veggies. I'd be very surprise if you didn't. The good new is that de-tox = get rid of TOXins. Better out than in.

Is there any way for you to start on a Friday afternoon (like tomorrow :p) so the immediate detox is not when you are working?

Have you heard about green smoothies yet? Those are great for helping the detox to be through your bowel movements and help to ease pain like headaches etc. as a result.

You CAN do this, though! You'll just have to find a way that works best for you...

I think it was probably the banana, too. ;)

You're doing great - don't be discouraged. Keep it up! The raw-er you get, the happier you'll be. I promise!

Two hours from eating something, is typically a food poisonning which cannot be from fruit unless they were cut on a contaminated cutting board. Meat will likely do this and make you sick. The egg also could do that, if they aren't organic, you don't want to know what you can find in that. The only egg that i could tolerate before i become vegan was from a farmer that i knew, the other one, i would get sick and not digest them well. For the chicken,if this wasn't organic, think of this, they take only 30 days to grow a chicken and all the toxic stuff that is given to this animal stay in the meat.

You could start a cold too. Unless there is something with your body where you cannot have sweet or sugar such diabetic etc... yes, the sugar from fruit could do that.

Maybe this is a time for you to re-evaluate what you eat and consider to boost your immune system by regulating your PH. If you are acid, you need to bring this back to alkaline. Greens will do this for you and raw food. Food that aren't organic have a very high rate of pesticid and God knows what else. There are many way to make your way to a healthier life style. The first one to consider is to refuse to buy meat from any corporation if you aren't ready to let go of meat. Consider to buy organic or from a farmer that you know. Same for the fruit and vegetable, buy organic or from your local farmers. Your health is work the money.

I am no doctor but i believe to follow our body and not our mind needs but to start to listen to our body. If you are detoxing because you quit consuming something very bad for you such alcohol, coffee from coffee shop(they use msg), commercial bakering(donnut, commercial chocolate), food loaded with aspartam, msg, or any toxic chimical, you will experience detoxing.

You should get the book 12 step to raw food by Victoria Butenko and get Alissa Cohen dvd on how to preparre raw food.

I would go consult a professional and find someone that is into raw food.

Sending you much love and hoping you feel better soon!

I wouldn't agree that detox is a factor based on her consuming a totally SAD diet with a bit of fruit included. Most SAD eaters include fruit in their diets. Koko's diet is still totally acidic. By not being used to fruit, and with so much accummulated waste in her intestines, the fruit may have promoted a reaction which caused nausea or quickly switched her body into an alkaline state which she wasn't used to. Perhaps adding salads and veggies to each meal and including green smoothies is a better way to ease into raw.

It was the green banana and improper food combining.

Read up on raw thoroughly - get Alissa's book and read Dr Gabriel Cousens work.

Best wishes.
