Yep. A little extra protein today.

I have been leery of peppers ever since I had the one with the worm inside. Never figured that one out because I couldn't see any holes in it whatever.

Now today for lunch, I was cutting up green peppers. I tend to cut them from the top to the bottom, trying to leave all the seeds in the middle. I cut off one strip and there he was, all brown and slimy and crawling across the inside of the pepper.

I stifled a scream, threw out the piece I had cut off and hurled the rest of the pepper out into the back yard. Maybe the racoons will eat it. Blech! And this time I did find the little hole near the bottom where he chewed his way in.

So now I will be even more leery of peppers. What really skeeves me is I like to eat those baby ones by just biting into them. Makes them very portable. But I am afraid to do that now.

Maybe he was trying to go RAW? hehe

I love those little baby peppers too and would not want to bite into any creepy crawlies. Sometimes with the organics here like lettuce and celery I find little guys in there. I am always extra carefull in paying attention when cleaning those ....man can those little guys hang on when you are washing stuff off :D

They don't bother me on lettuce or spinach, I guess because they are external. I can't handle them *in* stuff though. Corn is another thing that skeeves me out. I lived in an apartment in CA where the kitchen was up a flight of stairs. I husked some corn and found a worm inside. I freaked because I was so far from the door to be able to throw it outside. And there was a screen on the window. So I just screamed until my husband came to find out what was going on. Made him deal with it.

Then I noticed that the store where I bought the corn had big garbage cans right by the corn. People were husking it there in the store. I did that a few times then decided to pay more for the already husked stuff.
