i took my boyfriend to a really great Japanese restaurant (where they cook right in front of you) and while he had all the meat stuff, i got some veggie sushi (there was not even a salad hmm) so there was of course rise in it.

by the way- it tasted like NOTHING...NOTHING AT ALL. the raw sushi i make at home (with avocado and all) is soooooo much better!

but here's the thing- after i ate, i felt NOTHING in my stomach, like i didn't eat at all (i wasn't hungry or anything, just no feeling in my stomach)... and after i eat raw most of the time- i can literally feel the food moving and turning inside!!! which i REALLY don't like. half of the time it also comes with bloating

WHY OH WHY do i feel good after that sticky rise and raw just makes a tornado in my intestines!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :((((((((( anyone else noticed anything like that??

Hmm I never experienced this it is always the other way around. If I eat cooked I feel it and it doesnt' feel very good most times.

you see, when i did eat cooked (esp. animal products) i would feel HORRIBLE- but the next day..not right away. and yet SAD is not unsettling at all after eating it- RAW however, just creates intestinal fireworks and i really really start getting tired of it :(:(:(

same as docsharp...raw food makes my tummy feel good! HOWEVER, if i do a really poor food combining job then my stomach doesn't feel as well...like if i eat nuts and then oranges in the same meal. but other than that, my stomach always feels good on raw...it suffers, however, when i eat cooked food.

riiya--does this always happen after you eat raw food? what kinds of meals are you having? does your stomach discomfort happen after a green smoothie, for instance? maybe try eating more simply...a few mono meals wouldn't hurt...i'm assuming your system isn't used to eating like this and it's not yet able to digest it properly? i have read that most of us don't have enough acid in our stomachs to digest properly, but that after eating raw food for awhile we develop that acid and can finally digest well. green smoothies are suppose to help a lot!

I have to agree that when I combine foods improperly my stomach does weird things.. it doesn't feel as good, other then that raw feels so much better then cooked.

it happens to almost all raw things. however i DID notice feeling good when i simplify meals or eat mono. that's true! with smoothies- usually there's no problem (unless i drink them right after a meal!)

I am considering a juice fast to give my belly a rest- is this a good idea? does it help "clean out" in some way..

hmmmm i guess i should try some mono eating. it still makes me wonder why sad food just settles into my stomach right away and i don't feel it "wondering around"

P.S. uuu this made me think of something- my food "wonders around" big time after sweet fruits!!! i think i have to seriously minimize those..could this be candida-related?? hmmm

Sometime, the rice will act like a sponge. In the past, when i would make exception with raw food, i would have steam brown rice, but let me tell you, my energy level dropped too and my craving for cook food will come back too. There isn't any doubt in my mind for me that 100% raw food is the way. Even brown rice, i would keep making those exception, i had to re-commit to stay in course. How long have you been raw?

I don't have side effect with rice but again, my energy dropped for i can feel the extra energy needed to digest the cook food. I heard you can buy rice grain that sprout and turned to green, i want try this someday.

Best wishes!

thanks!!

i dont' really even care for rice- and the one in sushi had no taste anyway bahh

i've been raw for awhile- i started last september but had a huge SAD downhill ride for about 4 months from December to March. and then i finally got back to almost 100% raw (i don't eat any cooked deliberately, but sometimes there's bragg's aminos here and there, you know things like that)

i've had belly-issues the WHOLE time basically. i did a cleanse too a month ago, which was good but didn't take away all problems!

There's your answer.

I am considering a juice fast to give my belly a rest- is this a good idea? does it help "clean out" in some way..

Fiber is what "cleans out" and that's what you're feeling when you eat raw. Fiber acts as a brush to "clean out" your colon.

hmmmm i guess i should try some mono eating. it still makes me wonder why sad food just settles into my stomach right away and i don't feel it "wondering around"

Because there's nothing to it. White rice has been denatured ~ there's no fiber; there's no fiber in meat... why would any of that upset one's stomach?

P.S. uuu this made me think of something- my food "wonders around" big time after sweet fruits!!! i think i have to seriously minimize those..could this be candida-related?? hmmm

I'll make a bet it "wanders around" after a combination of sweet fruits and fat whether it be avocados or nuts/seeds. No, it's not candida related in the least although, you may be having problems digesting the fruit sugar because of high fat content combos which are hard to digest.

If you've got Alissa's book, there's a food combining chart in it. Might want to check it out and yes, mono meals are GREAT for digestion purposes.

You know, it's really a good thing to feel ~ no matter what it is. Just because something feels "different" or that you feel it at all, doesn't mean it's "bad" or "wrong".

Mono means single food. If you're going to eat an avo... eat it alone; same thing with the dirt.. um, I mean the mushrooms.... same with tomatoes.
