Many like and use Excalibur dehydrators. Alissa is carrying a new kind called Good4you. These are getting rave reviews. You can check them out if you click on the link on the left that says "appliances".

Excalibur 9 tray I vote for. About 10 years later still super happy.

Oh, we have a similar thread or had going so may want to search here for something like "buy dehydrator" to bring up more opinions to help your decision.

I've had the 9 tray excalibur for years and I still love it. For me I wouldn't want anything less than the 9 trays because when I make crackers I can make several batches all at once....It takes several hours to dehydrate things and making tons makes just as much mess and takes just as long as a couple of trays worth. I also have 5 of the teflex sheets and I really would like to have 4 more. It seems like you get a better deal on them when you are ordering your dehydrator and I wish I would have gotten 9.

Lots of people like the good4u, there are already several threads about it. Alissa uses one, and she obviously uses the excalibur too. I think those are the most common ones discussed here. There are also small, round ones available, and at least one of them has a fan/temp control....maybe American Harvest? I have a good4u.

I had a 6-tray L'equip that served me well for several years until the motor was damaged from a power surge during a lightning storm. :( I went without another D for quite a while until just recently when I finally decided to get one and this time went for the good4u and right now I'm using it for the first time making flax crackers.:)

Thanks for the great testimonial Jules. My daughter CassandraLee and I really appreciate it! The Good4U model you got was the 10-tray. This is really a great dehydrator and I am sure you will love it! I offer my personal 1-year guarantee because I truly believe this is a great product so I won't have to handle many returns even after a year! Feel free to contact me directly, or here since I decided to sign up with Alissa's very cool forum. On the forum my ID is RawFoodGuy.

I just read about the good4u dehydrator on Alissa's site and she has FREE shipping and a TEN YEAR WARRANTY.....yes, I really did say 10 year warranty vs the 1 year that was mentioned, even the excalibur only has a 1 year.

I don't know if this was said, but make sure that it comes with a TIMER.

Some excaliber do have it, some others don't . This is nice to set the time and it stops on its own.

Excaliber, i love it.

Another vote for the 9 tray Excaliber ~ with the timer. I also got 7 Paraflex sheets at the time of ordering. We love it. It pretty much goes 24/7. I've got Asian Pears in there now and they taste like candy! *Ü*

Just starting in and have some questions also. Not seeing the good4u dehydrator under the appliances. But my DH just purchased one for me as part of my christmas gifts and I noticed that it does not have a temp. control on it. Says that it "knows" and adjust. Is this possible, because I am noticing that alot of receipes call for a certain temp.

Thank you,

Oh yeah - the 9 tray Excalibur. I'm only one person but use it ALOT. Especially this time of year. Summer not so much!

I have an Excalibur dehydrator. It's a tad large but it's a great dehydrator!

For those of you interested (since Alissa doesn't carry them now) I just got the new improved Good4U dehydrators in - now with a 40-hour digital timer! You can use my coupon (FD10T-20) for $20 OFF the 10-tray model. Check them out at http://www.rawfoodlife.com/good4u10.html

After struggling for the past year with the round Ronco dehydrator, I finally purchased the 6-tray Good4U and I'm so glad I did.
I absolutely adore it. It heats evenly without any tray rotation and it seems to dry things quickly. My only regret is not getting more trays, as a batch of crackers can easily take up 3 trays. And even when I make kale chips and use 2 heads of kale, it easily fills up 5-6 trays.
I'm thinking about getting another, just so I can keep the goodies coming. I find that having stuff on hand helps me with cravings for less-than-optimal foods.
But 2 thumbs up on the good4U!

I have a question about the good4U. One of the benefits of the excalibur is the fact it's square, and another that i like is that you can take out trays so you can put in things that are thicker. Does the good4u allow you to remove 1 or more trays so that you can dehydrate thicker foods?

We have the 4 tray Excalibur - though I can't say it's better than any other (because it's my first time using one). I've dubbed my fiancé, mattshor (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/member.php?u=19995) the "dehydrator chef" - he bought it 3 or 4 years ago, and it still works great.

I've been having fun just slicing up strawberries, and popping them out the next day to have has a tasty "chip" snack.

Matt made some "nacho kale chips" for us this week, and I think we're going to have to get a 9 tray soon, because all those chips are gone, and I need to make some more - they were so tasty! I had our neighbors try them and they absolutely would not believe that there was no cheese in them. So cool.

The doors are built in to each of the trays. I guess the one thing I would do if I needed to remove them for thicker items would be to just cover or tape over the openings. I guess that's kind of a bummer. I had the 9 tray excalibur back in texas, but I gave it to a friend when I moved to Colorado. I guess between the two, the only difference is the door, but each one does evenly dry foods.

Ok thanks portiz, that is a deal breaker for me, not that i'll use it often, but i like options. I think what i'd do since i'm single and have a very small garden is, just get the 5 tray excalibur, the model that has a timer and such with it.

I suppose someone could build a door for this unit so when you took out trays, you could block the hole made, but i'm not much of a builder LOL I so wanted to get one of the good4u unites, if they would fix what i call a downgrade from the excalibur, they would gain me as a customer and i'm sure others.
