i have been working on sprouting garbanzos and half of them are sprouted and half might. so my question is...if they all dont sprout is it still ok to use them?
and that goes with anything i try to sprout. if half of them sprout and the others dont? is it ok to use them or should i start over again with new seed?
it would be a waste but i dont know what i should do.
thanks

That's a great question. I don't know the answer but I can say I always just grab the sprouts and if some unsprouted seeds come with them I eat them too. I've never had a problem. But if it was a large seed/bean it would be easier to separate so I would probably take the unsprouted ones out.

yeah... i am hoping that someone would answer the question because i dont know who to ask but right now looking at them i only see half of them sprouting i wish i knew if they were ok to eat unsprouted.
maybe someone will come up with the answer.

By Garbanzos being so large, are they getting enough air to sprout and are they being rinsed enough. So pick the sprouted ones out and keep rinsing the others. But I do agree with "Brownies", if they are soft enough.....I would eat them.
If this is information you can't use..........Consider it a "BUMP"

thanks for your opinion.... i wanted to know what anyone was thinking about it so yes i am glad you bumped this up. i was thinking that brownies was right so i have gone ahead and mashed them up with the other sprouted ones.

Yeah, only about 5 percent of my garbanzos sprouted (they were old). I made a zucchini/garbanzo/parsley "hummus" of it with lots of garlic, some jalapeno, cumin, coriander, sea salt. It was pretty good but I'm letting it marinate overnight, so hopefully it will be better tomorrow!
