I don't want to get into a debate on whether you should or should not use supplements. But for those of you who do choose to use some, I was at my local HFS yesterday and there was a advertisement about a new line of raw vitamins, minerals and enzymes (the Vitamin Code). I talked to the owner a little bit and she had attended a seminar about them and said nothing was heated over 113 degrees. She was also talking about how they were extacted/made/processed that was different from other vitamins. I didn't quite get all the scientific stuff, but she was very excited about them.

She gave me a brochure which I thumbed through last night (but forgot to bring to work today). It seemed to very much endorse the raw lifestyle. I just found their website. I haven't really had time to read much about it, but there's is a 162-page book that you can either download, or they will give you places where you can pick up a free copy.

From just looking over the website, there's an endorsement of the product by Paul Nielsen, several raw books for sale, etc. I haven't seen yet what the price is.

I'm not promoting the product, but thought I'd share the link in case anyone wanted to do their own research.

I know which product you speak of. My HFS carries it too...I work there and also am in the processing of reading about this. I just don't know. There's a book out about it. I'd say stick with the fresh, organic (if you can), living stuff...but that's MY thought...

They may be "raw" but they're not whole. When one takes isolated nutrients, they lose the micronutrients contained in the whole food ~ we also throw our bodies out of balance.

Thanks Revvell. My HFS asked me to look the book over and let me know what I think because I AM raw. So this thread I'll be watching closely and taking notes...

i saw those two! My inner radar immediately spotted the word RAW in my HFS... then i realized they were supplements and lost some of my excitement. haven't read anything about them yet, but i think it'll be worth looking into! (i am all for whole foods. but then again i wouldn't know where, for example, to find kordiseps mushrooms and those are truly amazing.. i've taken it powdered in capsules back at home years ago...they're just wonderful)

I could be wrong but I think this may be what the store owner was talking about, that they still entail the whole balance, instead of isolating stuff. I'm going to have to really read to see what they're doing.

Many people feel that way. I'm not saying one way or the other. But I thought it would be worth looking into for those who do feel they may need some supplementation. I do have a feeling they won't be cheap. :D

When I get time to really look into them, I'll try to post my impressions. I'd love to here your input also, VFL.

They can't. When the fluid is removed lots of the nutrients go too. I know what you're saying. I use to sell "whole herbal formulas" but the food loses it's "wholeness" when the fluid is removed. (yes, dehydrating too).

Yes, many will feel to spend their money on pills, potions, etc., so, good of you to share something which may be better than others. :)

Somebody was bound to get around to making raw vitamins. RAW is getting to be quite a marketing BUZZ word.

As for supplements being necessary, I would say not. But....I chose to use a non raw green superfood called Greens Today which includes vitamins, probiotics, superfoods, herbs, etc. Just one tablespoon a day. For now, I consider it an insurance policy. Will probably eliminate it later when I'm through detox and feeling stronger.

I'll check out the new product next time I'm in a HFS. Thanks to you, and everyone, for the info.

I'm sorry if anyone thought I was saying you should take these. I just know that we see continuing questions, especially about B12 and Vitamin D, and I thought if there were people out there who did feel they need to supplement, they might want to look into these.

I myself don't take any vitamin or mineral supplements. I just thought some people might be interested.

IT'S FRIDAY!!!!! Everyone have a great weekend.

Self magazine had a little blurb quoting some medical research institute that stated that women who take vitamins have 5% denser breast tissue than women who don't. And that's not good.

I hope that I am getting enough nutrients from my foods that I've been eating. Haven't been hungry, pretty much eat all day long fruit vegs greens and sunflower seeds all day with EVOO on salads. So, I guess I'm getting enough. I wouldn't bother taking the pills for vitamins. They might have something else in them that's NOT good for you because they're made in a lab.

I'm taking this vitamins, that you are talking about. And I feel that it's more effective, than all others, that I took before (I buy all my supplements in organic stores), especcially Perfect Weight™, it's work grate.
Of course tha sign "Raw" was the point and I bought this vitamins, but after I started use it, I was surprised about very good quility.
My mother taking Raw Antioxidants™ and she is also happy:)

My late FIL was a chemist. He said that when we take supplements, our body absorbs what we needs and eliminates what we don't in urine or bm's. Not sure but thought I'd pass it along. I do know that the first 2 times I go after I've had my vitamins my urine is darker. He said that what I don't need.

Multi vitamins are so common these days you wouldn't even think of them as a supplement. I think taking raw antioxidant is good for health. It helped me a lot.
