I just ordered my 10 tray Good4U dehydrator!!! The kids are going to be SOOO thrilled. They've been talking NON stop about a dehydrator since we started this raw journey last year. Can't wait to see their little faces light up when they see it!! In time for Thanksgiving this year, woot :D.

And since I was already spending money, I thought "eh, what's a little more" ... so I also ordered the spiral slicer (have been wanting one forEVER!), some nut mylk bags, and Alissa's book & dvd (after a year and half of being raw - it's about time, right? haha)

YAY!

Now to patiently (or anxiously... whatever, lol) wait for my shipments. :D

Noone else around me "gets" my excitement about such an order ("they're just kitchen appliances, what's the big deal"? plllbbbttt) ... so I had to come here with my news. I knew you guys would get it!! haha :D

Thanks girls, I knew you'd understand (((group hug))) :D

The kids absolutely LOVE watching food programs, and since there aren't any raw shows on television, they're stuck with things like take home chef and rachel ray (why they LOVE those two - I don't know, lol). When they start to ask about why raw foods aren't supported on tv, I gather them around the computer to watch youtube clips and whatnot on raw food. They become over the moon excited, lol. I can't wait to show them Alissa DVD - they are going to be ECSTATIC!! haaa

Is it mail day yet??? :p

I know what you mean. I got my organic box today that I get locally and it had the pretty purple kale in it. I showed my mom and she said, "wow, pretty." I'm glad she said that because I was thinking it but didn't know if it was just because I'm a big nerd.... ha ha.

BTW mom even likes the kale chips. However, she has done the South Beach diet and now she is completely against "too much fruit" or "carbs." I try to tell her that there is a difference between simple carbs (fruit) and complex carbs (bread). She doesn't get it, she's just carb phobic...

Just thought I'd plug my latest dehydrator goodie--

I spread some "the bomb" cheese sauce as thinly as I could on a teflex sheet and dehydrated on 105 overnight. It made a flexible cheesy sheet that reminded me of american cheese slices only, you know, mine tasted good. :) I crumbled some over a salad last night and will eat the other part on a burger tonight.

I'll probably make more, if for no other reason than I've been going though this batch of cheese more slowly and dehydrating it would extend its shelf life. Keep in fridge, though, as it is not 100% dry with just an overnight.

*GASP* Emma-Liza, I never thought of doing that!!! Dehydrating a cheese to make slices!! One could make feta to crumble over salads and pizzas... Thank you for the inspiration! Time to warm up the dehydrator (heehee)
