I made my own almond butter for the first time. It came out the exact consistency I wanted etc, but I can taste the olive oil. I love olive oil but apparently not in almond butter.

SO I wonder, has anyone made their own almond butter and not put any oil at all in it? And if so how did that work for you?

Blessings~

I read somewhere about adding flax oil. Perhaps you could try that.

Hope that helps.

I tried to search for a recipe online that shows the recipe w/o added oil but suprisingly no luck. HOwever, I thought the food processor from all the motion produces alittle heat that gives the texture more creaminess. When I made my date nut torte using 3 kinds of nuts, the oil was oozing out. ;)

Hmmm, now that I said that I'm wondering what you are making it with. I'm using a little hand grinding machine called the Healthy Juicer. Not tried it in the food processor or Green Life juicer.

I used a food processor. For some reason, I just assumed it needed oil.
A hand juicer? Is that extremely powerful?

Not tried it in a food processor. I would think it would need oil that way because it would not grind otherwise would it? Or, it would to some extend yet, not make it creamy?

Not really. It's the same as a green life w/ the on auger instead of two. Doesn't really take much strength to run stuff through it. I got it for wheat grass and have since used it for watermelon, beets, carrots and someone asked if it would work with nuts. It does. They come out quite smooth and dry. Not exactly like store bought but I usually pour out the oil. O.k., it would be like store-bought at the very bottom of the jar ~ the really dry butter. Does that make sense?

I have used almond oil and only a little to get it to become creamy - and if there was any seperating, just a minute amount. It tasted very good to me.

I've always put a tiny drizzle of olive oil in when I made almond butter in the processor. Adds a bit of creaminess, but you have to be careful to only add a very small amount. Paging through Juliano's RAW book yesterday, I happened to read he adds a bit of orange juice. Haven't tried it yet - but it sounds interesting.

You might try agave nectar or N.V. honey

Yup! Then you wouldn't have to add it later when you put it on a 'nana! :D

I'd think that the taste of coconut oil would work better with almonds that olive oil.
