Hi There!
I am wondering, who have you have noticed significally positive changes in your face?
For the first time in my life, (I am 37), I am really noticing the effects of my poor eating habits over the past several years.
I am wondering how many of you feel that raw has taken years off of your face? And, if so, were there anythings that you did or ate or juiced that helped even more than others?
I am really trying to make some changes, and am scared that losing weight on raw will exacerbate my feelings of insecurity about my face and body, rather than help them.
Every time I start going raw, I let myself get sucked back into the other because at least I know what to expect.
I have a couple of other body parts that concern me by way of sagging, etc, and may post a question about that, later.
I would love to hear some experiences, if ya'll don't mind ; ).
I know that there are before and afters, and I have looked at them. But there are so many more of you on the boards, and if you have SEEN positive things in this regard, I would love to hear it.
Now, I do want to say that I am doing raw because I know it is best for me, and am not going to buy into the garbage to go back to sad b/c it is what I know, and all that junk. I am committed to this either way. But again, I could really use some encouragement right now. Feeling very low and down.
Blessings!

Oh, my skinw as THE FIRST THING I noticed changing. But changing in a good way. You figure, our skin is our biggest organ. I also had this "mark" on my face for years. It's gone. About a few months ago, now mind you, I've been raw 2.5 years, but a few months ago my face detoxed. I had coming out of every pore white "stuff". Some I even had to pick off w/tweezers! Little tiny white "stuff". So my face really detoxed.
As far as saggy/baggy? Get up, move, workout, exercise and dry skin brush. Lots of info here on dry skin brushing. I had a ugly chicken/turkey neck thing going on, until I started working out and dry skin brushing.
Good luck!

My American Indian cheekbones were starting to get hidden under fat before raw and are starting to show again. My jaw line is firming up. Men are smiling at me for no reason on the street - and I'm 43!

That's got to be the best testimony yet for working out and dry skin brushing. I'll try and remember that when I find myself making excuses about how I don't have time.
My face and skin has benefited greatly by eating raw foods. The first and almost immediate result is that my face slims down. It loses the puffiness caused by water retention. Longer term results; all my skin looks and feels healthier. A raw diet has also cleared up a couple spots of keratosis just above my jaw line that I've had for decades.
Living foods are the fountain of youth. Don't be like me and wait until your 50's to do something about poor eating habits. That said, it's never to late.
I think the initial weight loss is toxins, not fat. Your body will adjust. As for losing to much weight...I wish.

As for something I eat that helps; I like a lot of the salad recipes in David Wolfe's book "Eating for Beauty". His skin-glow and skin-saver salads use ingredients high in sulfur and silicon.
I used to eat the skin-saver salad before special events. I'm glad you asked because it reminded me; I need to start doing that again regularly. Works better than a facial. Ingredients are arugula, radishes, pinenuts, avocado, garlic, lemon juice, yellow summer squash, parsley, and (his green) italian olives.
I also bought some organic powdered turmeric root because of this book. He says it is a blood purifier and makes the skin soft, supple, smooth, juicy, and adds color to pale skin.
"In the art of radiant beauty, these kinds of results are a sure sign that food really does affect us".
I highly recommend the book. Ask your librarian about it. :)

I really appreciate all of the wonderful responses...
Have you noticed anything in the eye area? You know how it can get sunken in, and puffy at the same time?
I hate to sound so distressed, but I AM!
I guess you know, I need to be my own experiment.
And leave the stress and negativity behind..... Trust that my body is more than capable of healing of itself.
I hate to be so vulnerable. It is just that I have never felt "beautiful", and because of that have made choices that reflect it. I know that this is a HUGE internal issue... And am doing what I can to change my thought processes surrounding it. Sometimes I am not sure how, though.
So then I work at going raw, get all excited and then sabatoge myself.
There is a great story in here somewhere ; )... I just KNOW it!!
I need to keep pressing on....
Thanks all for your responses!
I intend to report soon of the amazing changes that are taking place : ):D

Have you ever been on the beautiful on raw website? You should take a look at it as well. Tonya was very insecure about her looks and transformed her appearance with raw food. Hang in there you will notice a difference and you will change more than just your appearance. Hugs

I totally know what you mean.I have had body image and self esteem issues all my life.I felt ugly all the time and was terribly self conscious. I'm doing better with this now, though I don't know what it's like to feel beautiful. I just accept and love myself now, "beautiful" or not. A few months into being raw my face broke out in red sores. I thought, if this is what I have to look forward to, I might as well eat cake. I kept at it and now, finally after 9 months, my skin is starting to look good. It takes time to cleanse and only our bodies know how to do it. I didn't get to choose, I had to learn to trust.
I would say to drink lots of water each day, use salt sparingly, eat lots of fruits and vegetables, and let your body do the work. We abuse ourselves for so long and then want immediate results. Myself included! Give yourself time and don't give up! You will notice a difference, but this is a process, not a one time event.

thank you all, again, for the encouraging words!
I know, it definitely IS a process!!!!
Thank you shashibala for sharing your heart. It is a matter of learning to love yourself/myself unconditionally.... And that TOO is a process! ; )... You look amazing, though!
Blessings All!

Oh, hun...I know how you feel, right to a T. I've always been much heavier than most girls, and that caused a large amount of emotional pain, which led to emotional eating. But think about it this way...you'll be so proud of yourself when it's all over!!! I know I will. -grins- :D

Yes, we will : )....
And will continue to enjoy and celebrate the process as it unfolds....
