Since being raw, I have noticed that My muscles are not as tight. I was always very flexible, but im SUPER flexible now! its great!!!

Has anyone else noticed this?

Rainwater contains a chemical called MSM (methyl-sulfano-methane). When you eat raw produce grown with rainwater, then you get lots of MSM. If this produce is cooked, then the MSM boils off with the water in the produce.
Taking supplementary MSM can make you even more flexible.

I just started long distance running again. I went from running 3 miles a day to running 7-10 miles per day in a matter of two weeks. I haven't had sore muscles once!

I like Jarrow Formulas brand MSM powder. It is pure, effective, and relatively inexpensive. A powder is nicer than pills (in my opinion) because you can mix it into stuff.

hmm great to know about MSM!
i don't know if i feel more flexible, but i am doing yoga.. it's amazing!! I've heard that massage therapists can tell if you're vegetarian by the way your muscles are not so "tight" ?? that's interesting..

Riiya,

Your post made me smile. I posted a observation about muscle tissue of vegetarians on another forum a few months ago. I am a massage therapist and I can definately tell a difference. What I've noticed on myself is less tender spots that usually can be found in insertion/attachment areas. Less congestion of the tissue. Before I became a vegetarian, I sufferred from back pain. I had pulled my back in my 20's and just had never felt the same after that. Maybe 1 month after being vegetarian, the back pain completely disappeared.

I went for a massage in Tampa maybe 6 years ago (3 years before going raw) and as soon as the lady put her hands on me she said "you are vegetarian". She explained that our muscles were more pliable. She is the only one that noticed. I think that the rest think that I am just flabby.

I've heard of this, but I must be the exception here - I've been vegetarian for a good while, and raw since February, and I'm still "tight" despite good exercises, stretching and some yoga too. Some of us are strung more tightly than others, I believe. Even when I was younger, it took a LOT of work to get me loosened up for dance, which I did love to do.

Sometimes I think that loosening up on an emotional and/or spiritual level can help us be more flexible physically. And vice versa.

This has happened to me as well. My muscles feel much longer and looser on raw.

Oh wow, this is such exciting news! I've gotten into yoga, and I was noticing that I'm more flexible since eating raw. Now I know why! I plan on ordering some of that MSM powder soon.
