The dc have been raw for 1 week today. The last 2 days I heard a few "There's noooothing to eeeeat...." I was able to rattle off close to 30 ingredients that we had,but they were still pouty-so...
I took them to the HFS. I gave each child $10 and said "Go for it. You can buy ANYTHING as long as it's raw." They got SO excited. They started walking around the store and they quickly realized that there were 100s of choices! They did fantastic and everyone was quite pleased with their choices. They didn't even come close to spending all the money, and yet they felt satisfied. It was a neat experience.

What a fantastic idea! I should do that with MY daughter....except she's 38 and $10 just won't do it, LOL:D:D:D

Zaphirah--this was such a clever idea! I was curious about what they chose....

My title says it....you are a blessing for coming up with this idea! I have been dreading (Canadian) Thanksgiving....it's coming soon...!...and all the resistance it will surely bring out of my stubborn-but-great 6 y.o. I have decided we will spend Thanksgiving in a nearby city, having family fun with just the immediate family...her, myself, and the hubby, to nip temptations in the bud. This idea to let *her* select her own raw snacks or foods is something I know she will really enjoy, who knows, maybe it will help open up a dialogue so she can hear some raw food facts that will help soften her psyche to the idea? Thank you so much!

Abe had a salad made from spinach, peas, cherry tomatoes, and corn
Gus had some dried papaya and a salad with cukes.
Addie Mae chose dried papaya, pineapple, and raspberries
They all drank a soda called Switch-which isn't technically raw, but it is just 100% juice with carbonation, so this was our compromise.
The main thing was 1. they started to know what is raw and what isn't and 2. that there are SO many choices out there!
(not to mention a lesson in money management and mathematics! :D )

I'm 37 and it would work for me! Here's $10 to get whatever raw thing(s) I want...not what I should get...not what will stretch and feed the whole family, but something just for me! Now that would be great! :D :D :D
(I know I could do it myself for myself, but then there's this little nag of conscience. Oh well!)
