Termites

Ok...TERMITES!!! :eek:

Anyone got any suggestions? I'm all ears. I went to plant something last month and the soil underneath was infested. However I looked again just last week and I didn't find any. Did they migrate? (garden is WWAAYY away from my house). I know they mostly are made up of water. I really don't want to use ben. insects because there actually parasites.

Anywho I appreciate anything anyone would like to share.

I have never dealt with this myself, but I can tell you ants and termites are natural enemies-do you have ants? That would make them leave. Also, I know to prevent termites you add compost and rockdust toyour soil, which boost the natural bacteria, and termites dont like it. Perhaps your garden soil is doing too well now to host termites?
Just a thought.

Yes I do have ants. I bought my sisters house and she NEVER added anything to the soil so I thought it needed a big boost and gave it a little compost a while ago. Perhaps that and the ants drove them off. ???

Do you think I should hesitate giving someone a plant from my garden for them to plant in their garden? Not sure if I should wait a while or not to see if they're still around somewhere else.

I dont know about that. Perhaps you could mention it to the person you plan on giving the plant to and let them decide?
