Ok, in general I'm pretty darn healthy. But my stomach has always, always been an issue since a kid. Stress goes right to my gut. My first 5 days on 100% raw I had no heartburn. But it's starting up (since last night). It's so uncomfortable. I really don't want to start up with chewing antacids all the time. Most of the heartburn is stress related (remember I'm a new Mom with 7 month twins and though they are great babies this is quite a ride!) and usually occurs just after eating. I've tried drinking aloe before but it doesn't always work.
Any ideas? Any suggestions?

Bless your heart with twins. I use to care for twins and I know the stress you can get.
Did you keep a diet journal of what you have eaten for the past few days? That will be the only way we have to try to help figure out what could possibly be wrong.

I know you're new to raw and the last thing I'd want to do is make you feel as though you have to become too strict with this, but one thing I know that can cause heartburn is improper food combining. If you can recall it, what exactly did you eat within a couple of hours or so prior to developing the heartburn last night?
I know that if I eat too much nut/sweet fruit combinations I get it or certain things like onions can also bring it on for me. Try to pay attention to what it was you were eating at the time...in fact, if you can, it's good to keep a little journal when you go raw of what you eat daily, what kinds of ailments you suffer from prior and monitor if they get worse or if then cease, etc.

Thanks. I do journal my food. I did a lot of noshing yesterday up till about 2pm and then when it was time for dinner I wasn't starving. That's when the heartburn hit. (I went ahead and had my dinner anyway). I was very hungry most of the day and never took the time to sit down and have a real meal (till dinner). Instead I just kept munching on this and that (all raw).
Today was kind of the same thing. I woke up hungry, started with a banana then an hour later had a fruit salad with some wheat germ sprinkled on top, then about another hour later I had 1/2 a banana and then I had a spinach salad about 2 hours after that. Now I'm finally content and not hungry.
I'll keep obserbing and see if I find a pattern. (though i really think it's mostly because I've been a little stressed).

Twinyoga: Sorry to hear of the heartburn-no fun at all! I have dealt with acid reflux and can attest to Rawinlocs comment about food combining! It makes a huge difference for me! Also I like to make sure I wait a few hours in between meals so each meal can digest properly. If I am stressed, I simply don't eat until I can calm down, otherwise, I am setting myself up to suffer after the meal. I have several children so I know sometimes we eat as we go!! I know it can be difficult with little ones, hang in there! Hope it clears up for you soon!!

Twinyoga,
Try Alissas premium enzymes, not the therapeutic ones but her premium digestive ones. I had the same problem and have not had any heartburn since taking them. I have also tried other store bought enzymes but they never worked this well.

Thanks for all the ideas. I think rawmom hit one big point...I do eat my meals even if I'm a bit stressed. And sometimes I eat so quickly because I have the opportunity! I'm going to watch what happens, but I'm going to attempt taking nice 3-5 hour breaks between meals and hopefully just having a juice or beverage if I want something between the meals. Also, I'm going to attempt NOT eating if I am too hurried or just not feeling true hunger.
