I got a large load of pears and used an idea I got from VeganforLife. I pureed them in my Vitamix with a little water, froze that up in ice cube trays, then transferred them to freezer gallon bags.

What did you do for the winter months with summer's bounty?

I just store in the Freezer. That's a Lot of Work.

Yes, but still less work than the canning I grew up doing.

For left over peaches I froze them as is without pits.

I also pureed and put them into a divided plastic plate. Now I got that out and broke some up for smoothies or even "ice cream." It's so easy this way. I also made lots of fruit roll ups too.

Me too!
Soon I will start dehydrating lots of fruit for the kids to munch on, too.

I didn't save any. It won't get eaten around here. I have tried making dried fruit. Nobody likes it. Daughter likes canned pears, but I still have several jars from a couple of years ago.

i discovered pickling this year..

Pickling saves things like zuccini and cucumbers ,carrots, and greens, onions and tomatoes..
for a few weeks, not for the whole winter.. but we are still eating pickles, and i have put the garden to bed.

apparently you can then freeze the pickles.. i am not sure how that would end up however..

i use a raw pickling method..not boiling in vinegar or anything.

just put in a jar with the correct amount of salt..( you can also use kefir starter)(pickles vegetables nicely)
(salt keeps the BAD bacteria from forming , however, so i also use sea salt.
and some vegetable from the cabbage family ( i used kale).
it ends up like sauerkraut..
sort of..
tart, tasty, salty, and delicious.!
lots of information if you google raw fermentation..

I dehydrate lots of my tomatoes and use them for marinara sauce.
