Is it just me or am I the only only who feels like passing out halfway through the class whenever I had to stand up? It's only my second class but I so wanted to be able to master this. Does it get better?

It does get better.
For my first several classes I had to rest, like, half the time.
Even now after many classes, the first half of class is painful for me.
The second half of class is pure delight for me, but that first, standing, half, I think I am going to die. Still, I get stronger, slowly.

In any case, whatever you need to do is OK.

You're not a failure at all. You are trying something new, and you're doing your best. I see no failure in that, only accomplishment. :)

Thanks for the encouragement. Still feel drained but turns out I am fighting a cold (rare these days for me) so that might have something to do with it. I'll give it another go in a few days. Everyone else in the class is so good at it!

Is it like sitting in a sauna? 10 minutes in sauna is enough to cook me like last night with my friend. Wow. Thanks.

Listen to these words "fighting a cold"... does that feel good to you? Consider this ~ You're in a HOT room; you're sweating; you're doing movement with a bunch of other hot, sweaty people ~ this is called detoxification.

I'm sure EVERYONE in the class isn't all that good at it and I'm sure if you talk to them, they'll tell you how difficult it was for them.

Personally, I have no desire to do the same moves every time in an overheated room AND, if there's carpet in there (I hear there is in many), the last thing I want to do is get on it with everybody else's old, stinky sweat.

I took an Anusara class last year... it was TOUGH, but it was great!

Am I a failure for not wanting to do Bikram? I don't think so. Are you a failure for not being able to do something that unnatural? Nope!

I agree w/ Revvell. I did Bikram a few times and didn't like it any of the times. I was trying to force myself to enjoy it b/c of all the other people raving about it-you know like how great they felt, the detox, etc. It just wasn't happening for me. I finally embraced that it just wasn't for me and I do other types of yoga that are challenging but feel good to me.
Best of luck!

Morn,

Sounds like a great detox and maybe speeded up by Bik. Feel great. Tomorrow I am on a marathon--90 minutes training session in AM=Turbo; evening time, but marathon and hopefully win a Plasma tv for hubby so I can get back my $814ish for the anniversary gift I gave him other day. He does love his Toshiba and I hardly anticipate any use for this 37" surprise to him.

Detox........hmmm you may be right!! I haven't been sick since before raw and the runny nose started right after my first class.

Thanks again.
