SO, I would like to happily like to report that after 3 months (almost 4 months) 100% RAW, I can tolerate nuts and seeds. I was never able to before, In fact it made transitioning to raw VERY hard. ANYWAY, i decided to try eating some almonds and sunflower seeds here and there the past couple of days and ...lets just say, My digestive system is still working well. HOWEVER, I have a tough time telling whether or not my almonds or any other nut for that matter is rancid.

I know I know, it should taste different, bitter perhaps? I just can't tell the differences. I have had almonds from the store that have been in an air tight container for around 4 weeks. At a fairly cool temp because my room is always really cool (they didnt ever go on the fridge). Now im worried and being psycho about eating them, I did, I thought they tasted fine ... but.... kinda weird... But I think the kind of weird tast might just be in my head.

I am worried about nuts sitting in those containers in the store too long etc.

Anyone else have issues with this?

If they are rancid the oils in the nuts will smell bad. I store my almonds in the kitchen cabinet and have never had them go bad...walnuts yes, they are much oilier but my almonds have never spoiled~
