i eat a lot of almond butter (specifically, Rejeuvenative brand). i called them today and asked this and did not get a clear answer. i read on Marantha website that they heat treat their "raw" almonds. but Rejeuvanative is certified under MCCO. I contacted MCCO and they said they certify the almonds are organic, but they don't certify those almonds. what are the standards for treatment of organic almonds? i am praying i have not been ingesting all that PPO!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure that nearly all almonds are pasturized/heat treated even if they are organic(and even if they are labled raw) these days. I don't see how they can heat treat their almonds and still call them "raw" that doesnt make sense, but it's allowed by the USDA. It seems nearly impossible to get truly raw nuts anymore.
Here's an article with some more info:

hm, so are people boycotting almonds or just dealing with it?
And yes, I do believe that all almonds are being heat treated, or treated in some way. I got hung up on that, and stopped eating almongs, THEN I stopped eating raw because of it. I need my almonds to stay raw! so, i deal with it! the rest of my diet is 100% so, i wont fret! I hope we get some more info Wether!!!
