I am married to a geek but apparently it doesn't rub off ... someone invited me to "be their friend" ... what does this mean and how does one go about doing this - LOL. Yes, I feel pretty stupid. Even my mom gets around better than I do!

Blessings,
Heather

You know I've gotten two invites from different people here and clueless myself. I am their friend already. I am everyone's friend so why something new now. I don't see benefits yet, but opened to listening. I am not a geek but smarter then I ever was now.

Anxious to hear what is shared here.

There's a difference between stupid and not knowing. This is just not knowing.

Click on your name in the upper right hand corner and see what happens. It should be underlined. Then get back to me.

Ok, I figured out how to add my friend to my friend list ... but WHAT THE HECK DOES THAT MEAN??? LOL! I'm so proud of myself that I figured out how to add a friend ... but I don't even know what that allows/requires me to do. I can't believe I'm sitting here laughing at my computer!

Blessings,
Heather

The friendship feature is a new feature in the forum software. It is actually very poorly documented and there are tons of other forums all asking the exact same question - on what exactly does this feature do.

At this point, it is basically just a buddy list that shows that 2 people are buddies. In the future releases of the forum, there might be functionality tied into the buddy list - like only allow friends to post comments, or something like that. Currently the feature is pretty pointless in my opinion.

Here are a few posts from another forum - so you are def not technically challenged :)

"I was reently invited to be someones' "friend." That's cool with me, since I'm a friendly kind of guy. But I don't know what it really means to be someones "friend." I actually consider a bunch of folks here to be my friends, even though I haven't met them. Does accepting the "friend" invitation mean I can call at any hour of the night for a ride home from the bar?"

--------------
"I havent figured that out either.

A couple of days ago I had several "friend requests" on my User CP.

I figured if they wanted me to be their friend, that was enough for me and clicked on them."
