I apologize if I'm stepping out of line with this posting; however, it is pertinent to fasting.
Water fasting can be a great experience. However, if someone does not properly research the pro's and con's of a water and/or juice fast before starting one, there could be health issues.
Recently on the CureZone.com water fasting boar (http://www.curezone.com/forums/f.asp?f=335)d, there was a poster that has stated she's been on a 28 day water fast for health reasons. She stated that she had appendicitis and before having surgery she wanted to fast to see if that would resolve it.
After posting almost daily about her appendicitis for the better part of a month, she decided to break the fast and then mention that she was now going to see a doctor to see if she indeed did have appendicitis.
In a forums like RFT and CZ, we are at the mercy of the poster being honest with what they are stating. For someone to be asking for advice as to whether she should continue to water fast as treatment for appendicitis when it turns out she doesn't disclose until the end of her fast that that's what she thought she had, is just wrong on many levels.
With that said, the knowledgeable Chrisb1 who cured himself of leukemia through water fasting 25 years ago after being given 6 months to live, made the following posting:
Hello everyone,
In the light of recent events I thought this was the appropriate time to illustrate and emphasize some contraindications to fasting for those wishing to undertake one.
Although Water Fasting according to thirst is extremely safe, and a natural process of the body in cleansing and healing, I must stress that a fast of any great length undertaken with an unknowingly current and underlying medical/health condition, could have serious health repercussions. This especially applies to anyone who is already underweight and where the necessary food-reserves are not in place to sustain the body for any great length of time.
There are also some other contraindications to undertaking a lengthy fast.....
#1. Kidney disease.
#2. Liver cancer
#3. Malignant arrhythmias and unstable angina.
#4. People with weak hearts or who have had a recent heart attack,
#5. People with bleeding ulcers, some types of cancer, diabetes, epilepsy, tuberculosis, ulcerative colitis, and gout are all contraindications for fasting, unless under strict qualified supervision.
#6. The fear of fasting itself.

The common side effects of fasting.............

But the main point I would like to stress here to everyone, is that if you are contemplating a lengthy fast of more than 15 days to heal yourself of a known/underlying health condition, by far the best & safest option is to have professionally qualified supervision.
This is the professional advice of all the qualified fasting supervisors of today and of yesterday.
Warm Regards
Chrisb1.
