My whole family went raw this week-all 6 of us. (well I already was, but ykwim...)

so I was a little anxious about filling the cart with yummy rawness for 6 peeps, ya know? I bought a TON of nuts and 3 bottles of agave, some supplements, gojis, cacao, herbs, fruit, veggies, etc. My cart was brimming. But to my surprise-it was only slightly higher than what I usu bought! --and I stocked up on nuts and agave and some other things too! I think now that I am not straddling 2 worlds-it makes it easier and soon, once we are stocked and just need to maintain-I think it will actually be CHEAPER than trying to feed the fam gf/cf SAD.

Wowzers, eh?

Congratulations! I am so happy for you and your family. For the cost of food, there are great threads about how to save money and how to shop to find good deal and price. I can understand that at first, it is important for your family to feel satisfy. You will do great and soon your children will be making food too, lol...

Seeing you and your family, abundant and always provided.

Best wishes!

well the dc have been gf/cf for almost 3 years now. Over time paying a little bit more for gf snacks and convience foods kinda crept up on me until I was spending $25/wk on soymilk plus $20/wk on cereal plus $15/wk on cereal bars plus $8.50-17.00 on gf/cf pizza 1 night a week, plus $15/wk on snacks (ie chips, pretzels)

Now that I'm not buying that crap that gives me almost $100/wk to spend on nuts and seeds. LOL!

It is true, if you calculate of the cost of the old habbit, it gives extra money to buy the good stuff.

For me and my family, we do buy some expensive food such hemp seeds, chia seeds, e3lives and once in a while what i am running low such agave. But i noticed that the extra to preprare raw gourmet such agave, do last longer now, because we tend to eat simplier. Such making energy soup, green smoothies, just eating plain food such tomato, or sweet pepper but i will make a like a simple gourmet meal at night or something very quick such avocado with (onion, sprout, tomato, legume and a homemade vinagrette), whatever i have, i will make an avocado salad, so our grocery has dropped enormously too and we do eat very good. I am started to sprout now, i haven't got the hang of it just yet, but i do sprout legumes, and now i am trying sunflower sprouts. I have been waiting for the result and i am excisted about this.

I think if we can grow our basic food ourself in our kitchen, not only this is fresher and better for you, but it saves so much money.

Enjoy this raw journey with your family, again i am so happy for you.

Oh, I can't wait for this to happen in my household! I hate buying stuff for me and stuff for them when I know the stuff for them isn't as good. I don't even do chips and pretzels or anything that bad... but a lot of pasta and bread.

Yep, I have noticed my grocery bill going down the more raw my household becomes. Especially as we give up the things like soy, rice milk, HF cereal, etc. My bill is typically less or the same as it had been.

Blessings,
Heather
