So, what do you do for work functions? I have been traveling for the last 2 days for work, (downtown Chicago) and there is SAD food EVERYWHERE!
This is week 4 for me with being 100% raw. Now, I am faced with the biggest challenge ever. Every table has a big bowl of candy, lunch is dairy and pasta, dinner we are on our own, but of course I don't want to not look like a "team player." Breaks there's ice cream and cookies. Breakfast has been the easiest, with fruit....however the meetings are soooooo boring I just want to do something to keep me awake!!!
Anyone else experience this? I did bring some raw snacks..but, of course not very appealing up against the bowl of assorted candy! :D
I have lost 12lbs over the last 3 weeks and I am struggling to stay on track.

I don't work outside the home, but... I don't eat candy so that wouldn't be a problem for me.
When I did work, I do remember the catered events. They were not good! At times there was salad, but some people went overboard with what they ordered so there would be leftovers to take home. So they changed what could be ordered and it was pizza and only pizza for lunch. Donuts for breakfast. Yuck!
I would bring in my own big salad and would excuse myself and go down to my locker and eat. I suppose that might be more difficult to do if you are traveling.
My friends and I were careful with what we ate when I was working. I used to bring in trail mix that I made up at home. Other than that, the only foods we brought into the office were raw fruits and veggies. None of us touched the catered stuff.

Hi there,
Wow I love Chicago very raw friendly!
I travel a lot for work, you are very new Whole Foods so go there and stock up.
They have raw crackers, chocolate, lots of fresh prepackaged fruits and veggies and kale salad.
Pack your meals.
You are also pretty close to a restaurant Karens Raw which has lot of items to go.
I usually clear out the mini bar and put my food in, I always tell the staff first and have never had a problem.
I also usually at every stop buy a inexpensive sharp knife to cut pineapple and such in my room.
You can always request special meals too, I do training and we cater breakfast, snacks and lunch for our trainees and if they have allergies or such staff will provide.
Good luck,
RS

Bring Raw goodies. I have a sweet tooth also, and I would bring some raw candy for yourself........larabar, rawvolution, goraw chocolate......whatever you can get.

I went to a three day Democracy School class in another town recently and took manna bread and almond butter with me. Then I found the grocery and bought organic carrots and bananas. Manna bread's one of those not technically raw things like some Larabars and other raw bars that contain cooked ingredients, but it is very chewy and some of them are sweet, too. It made me feel less deprived. Other than that I ate salads. At work sometimes they order in a bunch of pizzas or sandwiches and nothing else. That's when you whip your Larabar or banana or whatever out of your purse. I have trouble resisting salty smells more than sweet smells so I wish I had thought to bring some home made trailmix with soaked and spiced nuts that are then dehydrated.

Not only does Cousin's have a buffet, they also have a raw box program where you get a box of meals and then can load up on the buffet if you need more (additional buffet food free).
They also have uncooking classes, detox program, raw store, etc.
There's also two Karyn's in Chicago, one is a raw gourmet restaurant, dance studio, store and another that has raw and cooked food in case you want to bring nonrawfoodies.

I like both places, but the buffet at Cousin's can be a bit heavy on the greens, so I like to order an entree instead. I prefer the desserts at Karyn's. She also has a by-the-pound take out buffet in the store part, with a small sit down area.
