View Full Version : Autumn/Birthday Potluck Party Ideas?

Keeping up with annual tradition, I'm hosting a raw vegan potluck for my birthday this coming Saturday, but have labelled it an Autumn Celebration because I don't want to make it all about me. Only two of the guests know anything about raw food, and I've banned salad and "veggie 'n' Dip" from the menu so that people would have to take some time and look into the wonderous world of raw food. I've got one guest bringing a dessert (a mango-type pudding, I believe) and one who is making some of his raw hummus, a delicious recipe made from sprouted chickpeas which nearly made me keel over in delight when I first (and last) tasted it.

I'm uncooking two dishes, plus "punch" for my contribution. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas about their favourite recipes for a group of close friends for a day/night of gab, movies, games, and food?

(Also, if anyone has any game/entertainment ideas, that would be appreciated as well! I know well how to cook and uncook, but an entertainer I am not!)

Thank you! :) May you all be blessed in all that you do!

Hee hee, thanks guys ^_^

I would make my birthday all about me, but with my back, everything has been about me the last month and a half. I'm ready to pamper my friends now :) and get some pampering back, but I *really* want to remind them of how special they are :)

Happy Birthday! Make whatever you love, don't tell people raw, and enjoy your special day coming up! Keep us posted and pictures would be "sweet" for those not invited or just can't make it from here. People love it to look like the real thing so go with that concept so they don't question too much as most will eat anything that looks eye appealing.

My suggestion is to make something that you would need a dehydrator for, as it's unlikely that your friends have one.

-Maybe taco/tostada shells to have a make your own taco station w/ walnut taco meat etc.
-Maybe some bread/s that you like to have a similar sandwich station
-Maybe a lasagne or other warmed casserole
-or your favorite dehydrator recipe/snack

Quite right! Possibly some dehydrated Mango treats.. Well you could just serve a nice tray of Mango... Mmmm.. Delicious!

Awesome ideas!!

Veganforlife, that cake looks amazing!! WOW!!!

Ok here's what I decided I will make:

-Raw Sushi
-Fruit Pie (raw of course)
-Hot Pink Punch (juiced beets, pineapple, oranges, ginger; and sparkling water) served in my grandma's punch bowl.
-Zuccini/Squash Dip (because I saw a really neat pumpkin-shaped dip bowl at the dollar store...)

A quick question about sushi: I'm torn between using cauliflower, jicima, or soaked/sprouted rice for the "rice." I've not had much success with soaked rice, and I've never tasted jicima. What would you recommend?
