I had some fruit roll ups sitting flat in my trunk with paper towel on each side that STUCK to it now. I don't know how and if I can eat the two outer slices now. Gosh, what a lesson. Glad I am cleaning my trunk out today. I wasn't seeing signs of mildew since dried, but yes, signs of paper towels not coming loose. Maybe taking it into the shower for the steam to loosen paper towels may be tried. Gosh. Can you believe that? Maybe I saved someone of their pain as I went through my own experience. Oh well--a hard lesson learned, but learned so well now.

Wow, I'm so sorry. Hopefully the ones you send me won't melt in the mail.

My sad lesson for today was leaving three avocados outside on the ground by the door to my dormitory. I left them there for literally 30 seconds, but when I came back they were gone. . . . at least someone will get to enjoy the avocados!

sorry that happened to you.

I love love love making fruit leather/roll ups. I just finished off the last of my blackberry mango leathers SO GOOD.

I noticed they can be kind of sticky so I never considered putting a paper towel on them I tend to use waxed paper.

right before you eat them rinse them off with water. they will be slippery to chew on but the paper towel will come right off!

Coco,
Wow...thanks....

Kendra,
The rollups were totally dry when I put the paper towel around the "babies."

We live and learn something new daily and hope never to repeat this mess up again, but sharing so others don't either.

Carol,

You could always try to use one of your mandolin to slice the paper off? :)

Always sad to hear when someone loses some delicious treats like that. Oh well, you will know for the next time.

I'm sure they thought you had too many and put them there for anyone to have. Yes we're always learning.

What if you took a foil potato/or other chip bag, washed it out and cut it open to form a flat sheet (assuming someone in your household in not raw)? You could use this to dry your fruit roll-ups without fear of them sticking and the reflective surface will aid in drying. I just thought about this while reading your post. I haven't tried it but will give it a shot next time I make fruit roll-ups.

Sad day, sad day! How 'bout waxed paper? That wouldn't stick! My sad lesson for the day was bringing an avocado in my lunch bag & when I sliced it open at lunch, it was all brown inside!! :( I had it in the fridge, and it was not overly soft... Don't know a surefire way to make sure my avo is a good one.

Give it a good sniff . . . that should tell you if it's rotten or not.

Thanks all.

My kitchen was hot yesterday and ended up leaving the roll ups there making it easier to separate most of the paper towel and scarf down of the roll ups. You all have such wisdom--a group of genius' are my friends here. Thanks brothers and sisters of RFT.

Super grateful to you all,

Don't know a surefire way to make sure my avo is a good one.

one thing i do to make sure the avos i buy are good is to ripen them myself at home. i buy them hard as rock and keep them in a hanging basket in the kitchen window until they are just ripe. if they are starting to darken up and get soft in the store they will invariably be bruised when i cut them open. i have a very high success rate of perfect avos when i only buy the hard ones.
