My wonderful neighbor just dropped of a bag FULL of okra and I've never had it before. I know it CAN be eaten raw but I have no clue as to the HOW. Any suggestions??? :D

I saw this video and have kept it in mind. It's "Bunny" Berry. If you make it, tell us!

Wish I'd known about this...grew okra in my garden all summer and now it's too tough to eat. I just ate it plain or sliced up on salads.

There are some great video recipes on youtube. I don't like watching too much talk-talk-talk stuff, but I love to watch people uncook!

Here is the scoop ~ the flavor is FANTASTIC but the slime.... I am struggling with the slime......

On the video she mentions the breading as being sesame seeds but they looked like sunflower to me so that is what I used. I also didn't have very much sunflower so I ground up some pumpkin seeds and it turned out really nice. It was so very easy and really tasty (except for flavorless slime....).

I saw this at RFC and we have been using it since it is in season and there is plenty around.

It is really good to use as a thickener or binder instead of flax. Just blend it into the recipe or blend with any liquid used in the recipe. Usually 1 pod is enough and we've not noticed any taste form it added to the recipe. Of course if the recipe calls for a great amount flax for bulk (such as in onion bread) that will have to be replaced also.

I slice them thin and munch on them while watching a DVD. Before you know it they're gone!

They work wonders on the size of your eliminations! :D

I didn't watch the vid, but I was thinking that Mattye's parm might make a nice breading for them...

I didn't use flax..... the breading was delicious it was the okra that was slimy. Apparently you need to fry the slime off......
