View Full Version : Magic Bullet Juicer vs. Champion?

Hello!
So I already have a magic bullet blender that my mom gave me. It has a juicer attachment for those wanting juice, not smoothies. It makes oj just fine. Some of the other fruits, like papaya that I experimented with the other day, came out really thick and not the 'juice' consistency that I wanted.
Do you think straining the juice even after juicing it would take care of the problem, or do you think I should just get a Champion Juicer? If the Champion also requires straining (it comes with a strainer), then is it safe to assume that I can simply try straining the results of the Magic Bullet juice to try for that thin consistency?
Thank you!!!!

Champion have used and not had thick juices but you can run pulp through Champion more than once however. Today I have a Green Power, not called Green Star believe, but super pricey. I can't speak for Magic Bullet as never owned.

I just started juicing and did a little research. The best thing to do is to use the Champion in conjunction with a Juice Press (Wells). This seems to work wonders! I have a Jack LaLane Juicer but the Centrifuge ones oxidize the juice, which is something you don't want to do. The juice with put through the Champion and pressed tastes totally different.....Hope this helps.

They oxidize the juice?! That sounds bad. I just started juicing, using an old juicer i picked up at the thrift store. It's a centrifuge kind (not a Jack LaLane). I know that a Champion would be better, but until I save up for one - is it BAD to juice like this? Surely I'm getting benefit out of it that outweighs the oxidation? Eep, now I'm worried.

I borrowed a Champion from a friend and I loved it for making ice cream! It's amazing...just for ice cream alone I could see spending the money on one. It also made excellent nut butters. I only made juice with it once and I think I did something wrong, but if you're going to spend money on a new juicer, just from my research, I would recommend a Samson. It's like a GreenStar but at a more affordable price. They also make oils, nut butters, ice creams, etc. too. I have not used a Magic Bullet juicer attachment, but when I used one as a blender I found it not nearly as powerful as a vitamix or blendtec.

Methinks you're comparing a Kia w/ a Honda here. The Champion is a workhorse for carrots and other hard veggies; makes great "ice cream" w/ frozen fruits yet, not great with greens as it gets quite warm and yes, oxidizes. If you get a Champion, drink the juice immediately.
I've given up two Champions and have had a Green Power, Green Star and currently the Sampson. Problem with GP, GS and S is that they tend to back up with soft fruits. Make sure you use the soft fruit attachment. It's GREAT with greens and most other veggies.
Of them all, I'll stick with my S, but I thought the GS was quite good.

the magic bullet is just a teeny weeny little machine with barely any motor power (how could it, being that small?). it's good to take along on trips, i'm pretty sure that's what it's for. my sister bought one (it came with two actually so i have the other one) to take overseas so she can have smoothies at her hotel and it's been working fine for her with baby spinach, fruit and juice. i wouldn't use it for grating or juicing even though it says it can do those things. i think that's just an advertising gimmick, it's not really all that strong.
the champion seems like a great juicer, i would like to have one some day. i have had a green power which is the precurser to the green star (i've used both, they are virtually the same) and i found it very good for wheatgrass and greens but it eventually backed up no matter what i juiced and no matter what plate i used with it. i haven't used the samson but i do have an omega and it's similar to the green star/power juicers though not as powerful. it has a single gear instead of two and it's plastic, not metal. all of these are good for making banana type icecream.
i think centrifical force juicers are fine if you are drinking the juice right away, something that should be done regardless of the type of juicer. forget about oxidation, the amount that occurs during juicing can be far more after storing the juice for even a couple of hours before drinking. same goes for smoothies, consume at once. see where that portable magic bullet type blender comes in handy? it's great to take along to work for lunches too so you aren't drinking something you made that morning. the thing is though, minerals aren't really affected by any of that. it's vitamins and enzymes that are sensitive to heat, light, and air but it's not vitamins that most people need to worry about, we nearly all get enough of them. minerals are the name of the game so make your juice and smoothies in whatever you've got and have them confident in the knowledge that it's doing your body good no matter what you made them with. a juicer is a juicer is a juicer. the best one for you is the one you will actually use after all.

you have 24 hours to drink juice made with a champion. it's a masticating juicer not a centrifugal.

some fruits are just thicker juices... period. papaya is one of them. you need to water it down till it's much thinner. of course you can always use a nut mylk bag to strain out even more but honestly... it's just a thick juice.

My experience with champion juicer, is that it heat up the food and doesn't work good at all with greens or wheat grass. I prefer the green Star juicer twin gears.
Best wishes!
p.s Fiber are very good for you, perhaps you an add a little bit of water to have it more liquid.

I have only seen the juice attachment if you order from TV - I think you get 2Magic Bullets for the price of 1 and you get the juice attachment with that. I have heard that the little area where you insert the fruits and veggies is really small so you have to do a lot of cutting. I guess that's OK if you are not using that as your main juicer. Seems like a lot of work but I can see the convenience if you use it for travel or at work.

Please explain why? I juiced a bunch of tangerines and grapefruits (4 quarts) with my champion...and drank the juice for days (with no problems)
Thanks!

The Magic Bullet is nice...
I have a friend who loves Hers...
BUT
The Champion will give you "Superior" quality nutritous Juices...
or go for a GreenStar and get even better juice.
Magic bullet has it's uses, but for juicing it's hands-down going with the Champion!

The speed it juices at causes oxidation and heat both of which reduce the nutrients. Actually, the champion wasn't made for juicing citrus. It's a GREAT workhorse for carrots but as nHisTyme says, the best is the Green Star/Green Power/Samson or whatever they're calling it now. It can juice EVERYthing including greens/wheatgrass, etc. I don't juice citrus in mine though. I've got a citrus juicer for that. Easier clean up.
I've had two Champions, one Green Star, one Green Power and currently the Samson. I like the Green ones best of all.

Which model do you have? Single or twin gear?

I've not tried the single except for the Champion. All the Greens and the Sampson are twins.

Their site says the GB-9001 is single gear??

..so you must have the KPE-1304.. I really do want to get a better juicer, but want to research as much as I can.. it seems everyone has a different opinion on them, lol..

Um, I guess. All I know is, I've got two gears. If I were to do it again, I'd get the less expensive version of the Green Power which, when I had it was called Green Star. Don't know if they have 'em anymore. I think the Samson is lighter. Not been juicer shopping in awhile since I don't use it much.

I say the Juicer- I don't know much about the Champion because I own an Omega 8005 (8003 same just white)
Single Auger- No heat with my Omega. Pulp is not even lukewarm. I love how it juices, makes nut butters and sorbet (ice cream). I can let it run while I cut more stuff up and still not warm. I can't drink smoothies that well, too thick and I don't like chunks-gag. I can also juice wheat grass easily with Omega, but with the bullet or vita mix ,you will have to cut wheat grass up and strain. longer/messy process without the mastication of the juicer.
Seriously... I have things to do, I want to juice, clean, drink and go. I don't know about the other juicers but this one is easy to clean and assemble, and it is not as expensive as others, has great warranty-10yr.
Have a great day! :)

I have the Magic Bullet with the juicer attachment. Absolutely love my bullet. Ive had my bullet for 3 years now. I disagree that the bullet doesnt have the power to juice or chop carrots or anything else.
I just recently started juicing with it. My juice comes out very frothy. I dont want frothy juice, i want juicy juice (more liquidy). Anybody know how i can get the results i am looking for?
In my first attempt, I put oranges & pineapple in the juicer, trying to get a pineapple orange juice. As i said it came out very frothy.
