View Full Version : My best green smoothie yet.

My green smoothies have been good at best and sometimes quite awful, but yesterday in an effort to clear out my produce bin before stuff spoiled I made one with these ingredients:

a head of spinach
a head of cilantro
a good portion of thai basil
" " italian parsley
one small onion
one avocado
one large apple
2 cups spring water

It was SOOOO GOOD!!

I didn't even have time to take a picture. Just started drinking.

Oh and I think spinach makes the best smoothies in terms of color - that bright green beautiful delicious looking green. haha. take care.

So what was the taste like....it sounds like it would be a sweet italian tasting smoothie.

Yeah, I want to start making raw soups like that. to me green smoothies promises Sweetness!:)

Sounds wonderful! I'm gently steering myself away from the hundreds of bananas I've been drinking in my smoothies. :rolleyes:This is just what I need! Thanks!

It tasted sweet and yes a little italian with the basil and cilantro. The flavors melded well. It was one of the "sweet" accidents I discovered emptying out the produce bin.


Yeah, I want to start making raw soups like that. to me green smoothies promises Sweetness!:)

I will have to try the soup too. How do you make yours? Do you put more avocado in it to get a creamier texture?

I don't eat bananas too much anymore. Only when the feeling strikes me which is funny to me because I used to buy caseloads of them to make banana ice cream nightly, put 3-4 in my smoothies and then eat 3 more. My system doesn't seem to need them as much anymore. I think I needed the potassium when I was craving them. It's okay if you're drinking hundreds of smoothies made with bananas. Maybe your body is needing them right now. :D But I recommend the sweet & savory smoothies - they are so good. When I first started making my green smoothies they were crunchy and lumpy, lol. Now I think I've finally got it down to a science.
