Just wondering why there has to be so many complications with food?
maybe it would be best to just live off the apples from my backyard.

Food doesn't have to be complicated. Why do you say that it is? As for living off of apples, that's not proper nutrition. You need to eat a variety of foods for that.

Only because people make their lives complicated. It's not complicated to me.

Food does not have to be complicated. Keep it simple. Keep your flavors simple. Enjoy the delicious flavors given to us by Mother Nature.

I think the key is to find something other than food to give you intellectual stimulation. If you are trapped in your head with only the cravings to occupy you, then you will play mind games with the cravings.
Easier said than done sometimes, but find a different, healthier obsession=)

I so agree with this. Life is what one makes it. I truly believe that. You want sadness - then choose that. You want happiness - then choose THAT. You want simplicity - again, your choice. Complications - yep, you guessed it - it's your making.
I try to have a balance between the two...

I gave you this same reply in the "sick of food thread":
It should never be a production unless you enjoy it. All the meals I make take 5 minutes or less. You can find recipes on here or other websites. My motto is keep it simple.
Besides recipes, you can make it as simple as eating apples. Just add in a variety of fruits & veggies & you're all set.

Between complications and simplicity? LOL

Yes, actually. When I feel myself "LETTING" things get complicated, I back off and go the route of simplicity. Be it preparing food or just daily living. ;)
I don't think it's complicated at all. Even when I make calzones (sprout + food process + D for a few hours + flip and add food processed sauces and marinated veggies + D for another half day)... it's just fun. It's an uncooking adventure.
I think taking Red #6 and Blue #5 and some fake stuff for a chemist's concoction called "food" is complicated.
But I don't make food every day. Actually, I have done a one-day cleanse before where all I ate was oranges or apples (separately -- not on the same day). Hungry? Eat an apple or orange until I'm full.
And often it takes me 3 minutes to chop up my lunch or whatever meal.
Ha! Maybe I'm just deluded, but I think there is no more or no less than a learning curve. Once a person gets past the learning curve, it's ALL simple. Some of it is just more of an adventure in uncooking.

It's not complicated. It just takes a little thought & preparation. The beauty of eating raw is that YOU'RE in control of what goes into your food vs. accepting whatever is put in processed foods. Start with the raw foods that you already enjoy such as a variety of fruits and veggies like carrots, leafy foods, tomatoes, etc. Then build from there. Also have patience and stay motivated because you're doing something to better your overall health. I wish you well:)

I might be wrong, but I believe she was saying that her relationship with food and all of the emotional and mental complexities were what was too complicated--not the cooking part.

I think eating the apples from your yard is a fantastic idea. Go and pick a bunch and just eat them when you are hungry.
All the rest is silliness we humans add to food.

It is just so much work. I'm sick of thinking about food all the time and wondering what to have for the next meal, ect. ect. ect. It's really getting to me. I wish I didn't have to eat at all.
Thanks for your replies, though

Actually, it's not. You are the one making it so. The only time I think about food is when I'm hungry, then I go into the kitchen and grab some peaches, pears or bananas and eat. Maybe I'll make a salad. Can't be any simpler than that.

How difficult was it before you went raw? Did you think about what you were going to eat or just make a choice and have it? That's what I do. Hmmm, salad or fruit? Fruit salad? How much different is that then, chicken, fish or pasta? Beef? Sheep? Rice? Potato? Um, tomato?

RawRose--I can totally relate to what you said! I have had feelings like this off and on for the last 6 weeks or so. As the rewards of raw eating have become more normal for me (better skin, no arthritis pain) it has faded a lot. This frustration is an obstacle, but it can be cleared.
It sounds to me like you're in the middle of a habit change--the hard part, where the novelty has worn off and the drudgery has set in and it would just be so much simpler to go back to the way you shopped/cooked/ate before. When you could just make a sandwich or eat a bowl of cereal or grab a burger "like everyone else."
Please keep in mind that those habits were once not a part of you, either. It took time and repetition to make them familiar and that is what it will take for this to also be a comforting, familiar way of eating.
That said, all the above advice about simplicity in menu choices is excellent and will support you in your transition. Going simple is a great way to regroup and focusing on things besides your diet all the time is what you're going to have to do eventually, anyway.
I have to laugh at myself sometimes that I chose raw because I wanted to solve my food obsession, but I have found it easier to actually overhaul my diet than to stop overthinking the food and everything connected to the food. I'm doing it, though. :)

Well, I guess I'm the one who misunderstood--I suppose I was speaking more to my own issues, sorry.
