Facing the Fat - a documentary on water fasting for weight loss

Just an FYI that is a documentary about to be released on one man's journey to water fast for weight loss. It's called "Facing the Fat (http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=15281458)" and due for release in early 2009.

I found out about it on the new water fasting group (http://www.new.facebook.com/profile.php?id=624567783&ref=profile#/group.php?gid=27004018655&ref=mf)at Facebook. For those of you that are into water fasting, I hope you will join - I find that it's a wonderful way to cross promote like-minded sites like www.RawFoodTalk.com and ww.CureZone.com.

Far too often, people looking for a way to improve their health don't know where to go for support. My belief is that the more resources people have to turn to, the better for all of us.

I hope this guy finds raw for after his fast. If he can fast for 55 days he can eat raw foods! I'd like to call him up! I guess he must be done by now. I'll just have to see the film!

Some of us are trying to figure out if this is somehow a promotional project for Smart Water. Typically on a water fast, it's distilled water with maybe a squeeze of lemon or lime. I guess we shall soon see what the reality is!

I did my longest fast (21 days) on smart water. It worked pretty well, other than the expense.

The photo below is of a bottle of SW. It's becoming very popular because in our vain & shallow society the paparazzi are photographing people like Jennifer Aniston who is paid to carry a bottle with her.

SW may be ok but considering it's also made by Glaceau who makes Vitamin Water which so many people think is good for them, it just gives pause for consideration.

Distilled water is what...$0.89 a gallon? And that is the ideal water to have on a fast.

Thanks for sharing Raine. 55 days? I've lasted for 14 days on water tops - he's amazing! Not sure I'd need to go that long eating raw foods. Maybe the typical SADer would really benefit from water fasting for that long. I prefer short fasts and eating raw foods. :) But this is good information for someone who doesn't know that much about fasting. I wish they had entitled it Facing your Health or something like that though - get the emphasis on regaining your health and not solely on weight loss.

Distilled water is ideal for a water fast, but others will do. What's important is what you believe will work above and beyond anything else. Charged water works well too. Charged water is distilled water or other water infused with the energy of a small quartz crystal, a pinch of celtic sea salt, a few wheatgrass blades and sunlight. You place a (glass) gallon jar directly in the sun with all of the ingredients above for a few hours. Then you've got your charged water for fasting. It's great. Oh probably better to do it in the summer when there is more sunlight or if you're lucky enough to live in the tropics.

It looks like a quirky and lighthearted approach to introducing people to fasting. I'm curious to see it and I live up in the northeast and it's apparently screening in Jersey next month at a film festival, so I might go check it out if I can swing it.

The above website has a comment on Smart Water. (Look for Dr. Andre Kruger's comment on SW.) Dr. Kruger lives in S. Africa and has supervised 4000+ (or 40000+) persons in water fasting. (I cannot remember now.)
