Hi Guys! Can you suggest a simple and relatively good tasting green smoothie for a beginner. I want the greens, but not the green taste (yet at least). What can I put in it to make it go down easier? TIA! Phatgirl :)

Spinach is good for that. It doesn't have much taste so it works great in smoothies.
Heres a great simple smoothie to start with:
1 bananna (works best if it is frozen)
Big handful of berries
big handful of spinach
about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of almond milk or water.
that's the one i give to my kids and they LOVE it! i can even add some kale and it still tastes amazing. i use water or juice though, almond milk is not good food combining and gives us all gas!

Thanks, I'm going to try it in the a.m. I dont' know what berries I have, so it might have to be cantelope? We'll give it the ol' college try =)

I love spinach as my greens, because you really can't taste it. I try to stick to just one fruit and the spinach plus water these days, lately either banana or mango. Looks very green, tastes fantastic.

not everyone has problems with nut milks in their fruit smoothies. I think you really need to test it out and see for yourself. I rarely ever have problems with bloating & the mix of bananas & nut milk make me feel great.
Test it out and see what feels best for you.

Yesterday, I had a really good green smoothie. All it was, was 2 frozen bananas, a cup of water, and a head of green leaf lettuce. It seemed just a little too thin, so I'll probably just do 3/4 cup water next time, but other than that, it was great. Make sure your bananas are really ripe for extra sweetness. You want little brown spots all over the peel.

just a little note as far as food combining goes...melons don't combine well with other foods because they digest so fast. so, i wouldn't put any melon in your green smoothie. but any other fruit should work just fine!
melon: eat it alone or leave it alone!

Well, I made a super sweet smoothie today, too sweet. It did have cantoloupe and grapes, so I think that's what took it over the edge. Put in a bunch of swiss chard with it, and that was it.
If you are afraid you will taste the greens, go with something sweeter (just don't over do it....)
