I can get org romaine hearts pretty cheap-but wondering if it's better, nutritionally speaking, to just splurge for the whole head?

The outer rommaine leaves (not the heart) are richer in chlorophyl, vitamins and minerals. They are also more exposed to pests, parasites, dirt and pesticides (which you don't have to worry about with organic) than the protected inner leaves.

Zaph,
Congrat. on your weight "bye bye" accomplishments. Outer leaves best, but if you can get a great price with the romaine, organic, then surely worth the investment is my thinking. Just bought romaine, organic, $1.50 each but has been jumping up to $3 as well depending on store and availability I assume.

$.99 sounds like a great deal if there are several hearts to a package or bunch. Lucky you.
