Right now I am writing a research paper on food irradiation. If anyone here has some links to information about food irradiation, that would be wonderful.
What I am discovering about food irradiation is truly frightening. For example, food irradiation creates free radicals in your food, and we all know how terrible those are for our health. Also, the amount of lies and misinformation out there is astounding! In one news report about irradiation, the claim was made that irradiation does not destroy enzymes because enzymes can withstand irradiation of up to 10 kilograys. However, it is legal for food to be irradiated with up to 30 kilograys, enough to alter enzymes. Rats and other mamals fed on diets of only irradiated food suffered high rates of cancer, internal bleeding, early mortality and infertility. Human cells in irradiated growth medium suffer mugh higher rates of cancer than human cells in non-irradiated growth medium. Scary stuff.
We can all work together to expose irradiation for the scam it is and help to get real, healthy, pure, whole food back on the menu.
I can't wait to share my research paper with you all once it is complete!

Thanks Lucy! I've already gone into natural news in quite some depth. I've also checked out the Organic Consumers Association information about irradiation. But I agree that the article you posted is most excellent.

I'm looking forward to your article! I'm wondering what percentage of imported foods are irradiated. What about the avocados and mangoes so many of us love?? I believe that India irradiates mangoes for export, but I don't know about other countries and other produce.
