Hi,
I just popped open my young thai coconut and the flesh on top looks purpley pinkish and the liquid inside is dark and looks like it also has a purplish pink tint to it.
Is it good to eat? Has it gone bad? I have never had this happen.
Anyone?
Thanks!

That is a great site (produce oasis), I just added it to my favorites. I just learned the difference between coconut milk and coconut water, how to choose a good one, all the nutritional benefits, and when they are in season. THANKYOU, THANKYOU, THANKYOU!!! I'll use this for many other things.

I put it in my favs too! Good site, thanks for the tips =)
I hate it when that happens. Sometimes they look just fine on the outside but icky on the inside ! I always try to look for pinkish or discolored spots on the sides and bottom before I buy them but sometimes you just cant tell. Have you had it long?? If not take in for a switch.

That link is a keeper. The coconut, not a keeper. I've only had one pink coconut, and I mean bright pink. The produce man told me to throw it out. It is a type of mold that coconuts are susceptible to.

No offense to anyone, but why even eat coconut if it doesn't grow in your area. Eat only local/native foods. Coconuts are mean't for islanders.
