Petaltothemetal has requested that I tell about the Raw Spirit Fest. Since I like to talk, I am all to happy to comply.

Well first of all, it took some effort to get there because the shuttles from the hotel to the Fest stopped running at 4:30 and didn't resume until 8:30 for the return trip. I got into town after 4:30. The good part is that I met up with someone else trying to get there and one of the hotel shuttles gave us a ride (neither of us were staying there). Once there things greatly improved.

After a spiralina infused veggie kabob dinner I headed down to the main stage to hear David Wolfe speak. Hearing him speak was like hearing an evangelist. He was very enthusiastic about the health properties of cacao. After the talk I hit up some of the booths and bought a supply of cacao that will last me the next 10 years.:p (after hearing some other speakers I have come to the conclusion that it is not something I was to eat on a daily basis.

Saturday I listened to several great speakers, shopped, shopped and shopped. I had some good food from the vendors etc. Cheri Soria gave a very popular food demo (standing room only). I managed to meet up with Revvell and her hubby, so great to meet them in person:D. I heard Jameth Sheridan in the early afternoon, he spoke about juice fasting vs. water fasting (he believes juice fasting is better) and the importance of colonics. David Wolfe spoke again in the evening. There was just so much to do and so much to see, I just couldn't do everything I had intended, but thats OK.

Sunday I didn't arrive until about noon because I was taking care of my spiritual needs elsewhere. When I arrived, I was blessed to meet up with Paul Nison at his book and found out when he was speaking. This was a great highlight for me because I have corresponded with him via email and his book really helped me on my healing journy. I also connected with Paul and his wife on a spiritual level so it was all the greater. In contrast to David Wolfe's encouragement on cacao, Paul is of the opposite point of view. He believes it is a poison akin to coffee and alcohol. At the end of the festival one could obtain some great deals on products because the vendors did not want to pack them up. I got a great deal on an extra container for my Vitamix:D as well as a good deal on a cleansing kit.:D

All in all, I learned a lot and met a ton of wonderful people and learned a lot of thngs. It will take me awhile to absorb it all. It is scheduled to be in Santa Barbara in May of 2009. I am hoping I can go.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing. Santa Barbara May 2009, eh? I hope I have enough frequent flyer miles to pay for the ticket by then! That would be swell! :)

Thanks for sharing you adventure with all of us! You've inspired me to seriously consider Santa Barbara in 2009.

It's funny you mentioned the opposing views of cacao by two well respected raw foodists. I go back and forth in wondering if I should use it or not. It just shows us that you have to go with your own body's impulses on what is good for it. What is a potent super nutrient to one person, can be poison to another.

Thanks for sharing the Raw Feast updates. Glad it was a blast. I wonder how much it would be for flying from Denver to Santa Barbara. I need some new friends there I suppose.

I just ordered one pound of cacao powder. What would I use in it's place. I'm sure Paul would love to hunt in my pantry when he comes back to my house and the bed waiting for him. We are the sleep over house when he is close enough.

So you grew up in a Jewish household like Paul and myself? Interesting that when he was here Jesus was hanging on the wall, and few months later news spread of his conversion. i just heard from him other day. January wife due to have their first child. I never met her.

If you go to youtube and type "raw spirit festival" (in quotes), then sort by "date added" - you will start to see videos from the this year's festival.

Here's one where Kevin Gianni interviews David Wolfe while they drive to the festival.

HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aanh4diz3eQ)

and another one with a bunch of people in a van headed towards the festival (looks like fun). HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncKjToMBTWc)

Oh, and this is interesting: "They Left Me Alone in David Wolfe's Hotel Suite (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Rd_5A-hW_w&feature=related)" (link)

No, I didn't grow up Jewish, but I still connect with him as a Christian. With regard to the cacao power I purchased a pound of it at the fest myself. I plan to use it sparingly.
