i've been really trying to only eat truly ripe fruit lately...it wasn't too long ago that i read that bananas are only ripe once they have brown spots all over them.
anyway, i went to the store today and got some granny smith apples...after, i got to thinking--when do you really know if they are ripe? they are obviously going to be firm, and they are always green and tart. anyone have a clue about that?
also, any other not so obvious signs that certain fruits are ripe?! thanks!!
