Hi! I've been on raw foods for 2 1/2 months now, since the beginning of July. It was such a huge blessing to find this site, I had been searching and searching for months to find a solution to my problem. I suffer from dibilitating fatigue, headaches, depression, body pain, among a bunch of other things. My doctors could find absolutely nothing wrong with me, we first tested for hypothyroid but my numbers turned out to be perfect. Next he wanted to do a bunch of tests but I really didn't want to go that route. So here I am. I'm only 29, I don't want to feel like I'm 80!

I have been eating around 90-95% raw, some days 100%. After the first couple weeks, I started feeling really good energy-wise. Then I'm sure I hit detox! For 2 months now, I feel like I did before I switched to raw. I've added in green smoothies about a month ago. I drink at least a quart every day. I am sure I'm stuffed full of toxins. I had 2 rough pregnancies (first- premature, I had HELLP syndrome which is very severe toxemia. second- sick the whole pregnancy.) I know I haven't healed from those pregnancies yet, plus I had mono the year before my first pregnancy.

I know I am doing the very best for my body and there is no other option in my opinion. I just really wanted to see some little bit of extra energy by now. I can barely take care of my two little girls, all I want to do is sleep all day! That's next to impossible with a 5 and 2 year old!

Will this get better soon? I am pretty sure I'm in the middle of detox, right? I guess maybe I already know the answer! I guess I just need some support and "hang in there, it will get better!" Thanks for reading my novel. I've just had this frustration festering for a few weeks and it feels to good to get it out there!

Without knowing much about the state of your health, how well your organs and hormones are functioning, your digestive health, etc., it's difficult for anyone to predict how your process will go. When you don't feel well, the problem isn't detox, it's the inability of your body to detox and toxins which are being stirred up and loosened through the consumption of raw food. Your body may also need rest to heal. Have you tried consuming only liquids for a period of time - juices, the Master Cleanse formulation and smoothies. That may give your digestive system and rest and help to move toxins out of your body.

Hi Michelle,

What is your diet like? Are you eating enough? Including enough sugars and fats? If you are eating sugars and not enough fats, it can cause your blood sugar to be low which in turn can cause tiredness. Fat helps regulate your blood sugar. You need the sugar in fruits for energy, so they go hand in hand.

Thank you Suzy! That really makes sense. I haven't tried liquids, I didn't even really know about them. But it's a good idea. I feel like I can drink green smoothies all day right now, so I guess my body is trying to tell me something!

Juicyfruit- Prior to switching to raw foods, I had a really hard time eating. I really didn't eat much at all, I was always too tired. Lately I feel like I am falling back into that pattern. I'm trying really hard to make myself eat, but I think it is still not enough.

I have a glass of green smoothie in the morning, then later for a snack I'll eat some vegetables or a bowl of fruit. Then lunch, the rest of my green smoothie. Later, some more fruit (usually a fruit smoothie or sorbet) then dinner, usually vegetables or salad. I snack on nuts and sunflower seeds during the day too.

I would try adding some extra virgin olive oil to your smoothies to see if that helps. Also, I like to eat a banana with coconut oil spread on it. Sometimes I keep a seperate container of coconut oil and add some agave and use it as a fruit dip. Coconut oil really keeps my energy up. I eat maybe two or three teaspoons a day and maybe a tablespoon of olive oil. I do eat a few nuts, like pistachios and brazils. What ever I have on hand. If I don't eat a steady supply of fruit and fat during the day I feel the same way that you describe. I think a lot of people mistake this for part of detox. Just my opinion. Hope this helps.

Keep in mind it is very important to drink enough water/veggie juice to flush the toxins. Also, a short walk (20 minutes) in the sunlight without sunglasses can help your mood by boosting your seratonin levels. It is important for the sunlight to get to your brain so that's why it shoudl be done without sunglasses. The walking will help get your lymphatic system moving as well. I've heard rebounding is very good as well.
