Lettuce and Veggie Wash?

Do y'all wash lettuce in the veggie wash? Probably a silly question, but I wanted to ask ...

Some do, some don't. We've discussed it a few (!) times. If you're concerned, I suggest that you wash organic veggies with it and peel non-organic. I buy most of my lettuce already washed and bagged -- organic bags at Trader Joe's -- and I don't wash it again at home. The convenience works for me right now in y life. Sometimes I'll buy organic lettuce from the farmers market and I'll wash it in plain water. I think it's up to the individual. I try to not get obsessive about it.

Yep, dedicated Veggie Wash user here! Although, when this bottle is gone, I'm thinking about making my own with apple cider vinegar and water to wash the stuff off my veggies. Still researching that one.

And yes, as soon as I get back from the store, all my veggies and fruits get lined up on the counter for their "bath". I put several leaves of lettuce/spinach/kale/collards whatever in the water with the Veggie Wash added and swish them around. Then I rinse, and let dry a bit before rebagging them for the refrigerator.

Fruits I let soak in there, like cherries or strawberries or stuff like that.

Those I dry off completely, and keep unbagged.

There is a thread around here somewhere about making your own wash, it was pretty good, I posted some stuff I learned by doing searches. There is also good information about hydrogen peroxide too, learned something there that day myself!

Thanks, Raw Truth and Jackie!! I'm washing most everything in the veggie wash, but wasn't sure about a head of lettuce. Just one of those silly thoughts as I was washing everything ... :)

I purchase most of my food from the local farmers' markets and I don't wash ANYthing unless it's got actual dirt on it. Did wish I'd washed mixed lettuce from one source as it tasted sandy yet, wth? A lil grit is good for the soul.
