Do any of you have experience with protein powders help to gain or mantain weight ?

Im kind of desperat since my weithloss since going raw has become after my appinion to the uncomfotalbe low level. down to 99.2lb  can it get any lower ?

I told my mom that I eat (and I do) flax cracers everyday. She was shocked and told me that that is why I have lost so much weight since flax will clean out everything ??? does it ? I love my flax cracers and they gives me a good feeling.

I still dont understand why im loosing sooooo much weight since im eating avokado, oils, flax, and other seeds everyday. Im eating way more fat now than when I was just vegan.
Oh I just read somewere that you will loss weight eating more fat since the body dont need to store it getting plenty, and will expell what is there ??? is that true ? a SAD eatier is eating a lot of fat and that is stored... is that because it is bad fat ? LOL weird questions I know, but im trying to find a reason and solution to my really low weight problem, and still stay raw.

Thanks :)

I was in the same exact situation when I was very high raw (95%). I got down to 105 and kept on losing. I was way too skinny and people were worried about me. 99 lbs is pretty tiny. On a high raw diet I ate A LOT of fats too, way more than I eat on a cooked diet, so that could be one of the reasons. In addition, the whole diet is cleansing therefore weight will be eliminated, it's inevitable I believe. I've heard that you lose the weight and then gain back some eventually. I never stuck on high raw long enough to find out though unfortunately. I love raw foods and the lifestyle but high raw wasn't working for me therefore I'm comfortable with 50%.

Also I suggest weight lifting, that can help to regulate your body's weight. Whenever I get lazy and don't work out, I actually lose weight, maybe the same is for you?

Good luck!!

Thankyou for your reply Tea :-)

Yes I have heard that too but, I have also heard of people 6 month or 1 year later and the weight is not back.
I know that traning can help a lot but ex. on my neck I have lost the little fat that I use to have there and it looks absolutely horrible. Traning canot fill up that kind of place. Im not even shure cooked food can repair the damage because I have and always had a high metabolism, and truble gaining weigh on that diet too. I had hoped that raw would fix some of this, It did take care of my digestive problems and a lot of allergies.

The truth is that most people dont have a answer to this I gues. Comming from being overweightet loosing weight is great, but for the more skinny ones like us it is not as interesting.
I was reading a really old thread here about the subject, and found a link to Tonya Zavastas blog Beautifull on raw. There she is talking about what she calles quantum eating, and that it is supose to help gain weight ??? Sounds interesting, but only two meals a day and fasting most of the day ? Can anyone gain weight that way ??

I really love being on raw and it feels really good, but im not really shure about the weight loss. It is getting a bit extream and I cant stop it :(

How long have you been raw?

Glad to help Shanti. I used to have that book but I didn't read the part about quantum eating. Sounds interesting but I'm skeptical too. But on the other hand, we eat a lot and still can't gain weight, so it kind of makes sense to do the opposite and see what happens.
I was high raw for a year and didn't gain the weight back I'm sorry to say (although every body is different).
But you know what, I feel skinny now eating 50% raw (not as skinny as on raw, but still skinny) and I don't like it.
Regardless of my diet, If I work out and lift weights 5X a week, I mantain a really good weight and my face fills out (which I like) and I haven't worked out religioulsy for about 8 months now!! Time for me to start my routine up again.
I really suggest you do that too and see what happens..excercise just seems to help the whole body.
Also training might just be able to tone up your neck.

Most protein powders are not raw. I know of one raw hemp powder. I believe losing weight is not just a matter of consuming little calories; I think it has to do with efficient digestion. If you're not eating properly and have weak HCL and insufficient enzymes, you can starve on a raw diet. People like Tonya Zavasta can maintain themselves on very little food because they've cleansed and healed themselves to the degree that they have very efficient digestion. I've met Tonya and she looks amazing. She juices, drinks green smoothies and does Bikram yoga everyday.

I think your issues warrant some professional guidance. Good luck.

Eva:
I have been 50-75% raw for about 8 month now and lost a little weight but not to much. I have been 98-99% raw now for a month and lost a lot of weight in that short time. It is just melting away.

You are right I need to exercise. I have been so lazy for a long time and after I went high raw been soooo tired. That is done with now and I feel much more energised but lacking in time to do it. The only time in the day I have time is in the evening and I dont want to exercise that late in the day. Im having enough sleeping problems (do to cronic stress) so I dont want to make it worse by getting all geared up.

I really loves raw foods, and how they makes me feel. But im seriously considering adding some cooked foods, specialy carbs, to gain a bit of weight again.

Why did you start eating some cooked foods again ?

Thanks Suzy :-)

I agree I would love some professional counseling, but I havent found any one who know about rawfood and has a nutrition/naturpath bagground (and are still accepting clients). I have been looking around for someone.

I have a history of Colitis and know I have a poor absorbsion of nutriens. It has become soooo much better doring the past years but not optimal yet. I had hoped that rawfood could help with that ;-)
I have read the book by David Klein, and it sound amasing. But I dont have the time to do the programe in whole since I cant take time of from work at the moment. So I compomised on a "regular" raw food diet, hoping it will bring me a little bit of the way untill I can try his programe. So far my tummy is really happy on the raw food diet :-)
Im waiting for my juicer to show up, so I can juice all the goodies :-)

I'm glad you're feeling better. Juicing should help with nutrient absorption. You need to heal your intestinal tract. Chew your foods well and be careful with food combining. I hope you locate a professional who can guide you.

Thankyou Suzy :)

How many calories ? I have no idear. I have never kept tack.

A normal day could be: 2-5 bananas, flaxcracers, 1 avokado, cucumber, zuccini noodles, sunflowercheess, romanisalat, sesemebar (not raw), maby 1-2 mangoes or papaya, and different vegies for the day, olive/flax oil and hempseeds. Some days I eat tofuicecream too (not raw I know, but I love it ;-)

Hemp powder. There might be some raw spirulina sources. Alissa's Chlorella tablets also have a high protein content.
