As a single mum of a 2 and a 3 year old i'm always on the go so find it hard to notice a big change in my energy levels. Until i suddenly realised the other day that when i have been walking i'm getting everywhere in half the time :) Since then i also noted that i was running up the steap hill to the trainstaion and near my home, pushing two toddlers in a pram. I couldn't help my self i just feel the huge urge to run up hills atm. Very strange for me :p
I've always considered myself quite fit but i have really noticed a big improvement, in my muscle fuction. Even after a huge walk with a little running up hills i don't get sore legs anymore. Maybe that means i'll need to add a bit more exercise in there now

Veganmama,
After about 3 weeks of being raw, I felt light and bouncy! LOL. I had these strong urges to do cartwheels. Now mind you, I'm 45 and have never done a cartwheel in my life, so I don't know where that came from. And considering I got whiplash from doing the "Nestea plunge" into my pool, I resisted the urge to cartwheel - for which my chiropractor was very relieved! LOL. (BTW, the Nestea plunge is merely falling backward into your pool.)
Anyway - I have a tendency to ramble - I definitely have more energy and stamina (Energizer Mommy) and feel stronger. I'm loving it!! This is awesome, feeling younger as I age. Can't beat it!
Wow ... single mom of toddlers. God bless you!! You are amazing.

I am right with you there, nutrimom! Isn't it great? I had someone ask me the other night if I had more energy going vegetarian or vegan, and I honestly had to say no. Well, maybe a little when I went vegan, but not much. But going raw? Heck yes!

Veganmama - That's too cool! I've noticed at work lately that I have way more energy than I expend (I just sit at a computer). A couple of times I've found myself bouncing up and down or skipping in place while drying my hands in the bathroom. Yep, I'm a geek. :)
Melanie - I noticed the same thing. I had slightly more energy going vegan - or, actually, just a feeling of being lighter. But going raw - huge change!

I too find myself dancing and bouncing up and down (and yes, cartwheels too!) for no apparent reason; I just get these sudden bursts of happy energy. My hubby looks at me like I've lost it, but the bouncing does put a smile on his face ;)

Hi everyone,
Your posts give me much hope. Today is 21 days at 100% and I'm waiting for the energy to really kick in. As I said in a different thread today I am trying to clear out lots of fibromyalgia symptoms as I detox, so perhaps that's why I'm not there yet. I keep telling myself "Patience" (not my strong suit I admit) because I'm in this for good. No going back. I'm 39 (or will be in a couple weeks) and have been in pain with miserable symptoms for about 20 years. It's time to start enjoying this physical incarnation!!! I have to believe the energy will come in time. For now, I'm still going to sleep at 9pm and up at 7:00am, still wish I could nap mid afternoon, still get a bit irritable with my son around his bedtime because I'm feeling too wiped out to have a sense of humor. Plus I've got lots of detox stuff going on. My mantra right now is "This too shall pass." Yet, in truth, there are some super-subtle gains in energy happening: The stairs are a little easier to climb, I'm not lying on the sofa mid-day, I'm not "too tired to make a juice" etc. The big changes will come eventually. For now these little gains are great. :)

Melissa,
I just want to say that for the first month raw I honestly didn't feel that great. I mean, I had good days, but overall I didn't feel like I thought I should. Took me a long time to detox. Finally, though, it all passed and the good really kicked in. Hang in there!

Hi Melissa
I just wanted to let you know that my changes didn't come overnight either. It's taken many many months of high Raw to feel these big changes and even with the extra energy i talked about until last week i was still falling asleep with my girls at 7.30 every night. But in the few weeks i've been finding myself up later and later and last nigh ti worked to 1 pm and stil woke up bouncy this morning.
SO hang in there, it sounds like there are wonderful changes taking place and you are doing such a wonderful thing for yourself and your son :)

Melissa let me give you my 2 cents.
I have been over 80% raw for a couple of months now. I have good days and bad days. Coming from a lot of weight lifting I have actually had to cut this back, haven't had the energy for much of it yet. But in the last couple of weeks my energy is coming back and when I lift weights now I feel a lot better. Always remember for most of us we have eaten badly for many years. It will take our bodies some time to get rid of the junk. My main goal is to hopefully by January be 90 to 100% raw and then give my body 2005 to rebuild and cleanse before I really look at how it has effected me. Storm over at gardendiet.com tells people to give this way of eating a year and they will see amazing results. Well I have nothing better to do for 2005. :D so I might as well.

I have not been all raw for a month yet. I find my energy levels swing up and down and realize it is based on what I am eating. One day I was eating very little fruit but a lot of fat and dehydrated stuff and I felt heavy and tired the whole day. When I eat the more water rich fruits and salads my energy peaks more often.

Thanks everyone. I'm holding on. I have a love/hate relationship with those dehydrated breads and crackers I'm making. Sharon, I too do better with the juicer stuff. I think that's because I myself am already dehydrated! I struggle to drink enough water every day, which I think will be key to my detox and healing. Recently I have a flu-like feeling in the mornings, waking up in a sweat, many trips to the bathroom (could be the flax, which soaks up the little water I do have in me like a sponge) and foggy brain. It seems to lift as the morning goes on and I find some fresh o.j. helps too. There's no way I'm going back to cooked food--I don't even see it is edible for me, I associate it so much with feeling sick--that I will get through the detox no matter what, in order to get to the other side.

Hey Melissa! It's your twin FM sister. I could just copy and paste some of your posts to mine. ;)
I'm on day 18 and feeling the same way. My mental capacity is growing, I'm clearer than I ever have been and get bursts of energy like I've never had. But there are days where I'm irritable, very sore, and tired. I also am VERY dehydrated. Always have been and I wonder if that's a symptom of our FM? I feel best on the days when I eat lots of fruit, I'm assuming some of that is b/c of the water content too.

Hello to my "FM Twin" Karen :) Thanks for posting. I think you're right about water content. Do you have to force yourself to get the glasses of water down? I'm just not someone who thinks about drinking much. I've been told by an acupuncturist and by an eye doctor that I'm dehydrated (the acu. could tell by tongue diagnosis...the edges of my tongue were ripple and there was a crack in the middle...the eye dr. blamed my dry eye syndrome on my dehydration.) I've always said that my FM feels like everything is congested, irritated and "stuck" inside of me...stuck energy with heat building up and making everything sore. Now I'm really trying to make drinking central to my daily life, more so even than eating. I did better when I was juice fasting. I notice that I try to eat foods that give me that same "I'm full" grounded, weighed down feeling that I was used to...bananas, dehydr. crackers, nut butters...even though I know they don't get the energy un-stuck and moving as much as the juicier fruits and veggies do. But it's funny...They make me feel sluggish overall right now, but they also don't produce the more dramatic detox symptoms that a veggie juice with greens will create. I feel a surge of powerful aliveness when I drink my fresh "V8" concoction (literally 8: carrots, celery, parsley, lettuce, cucumber, lemon, tomato, and a tiny bit of cabbage) but then I also go into instant detox, nose running, head swimming, ugh. So I sometimes retreat to the "blahs" of dense foods instead of tackling the challenge of introducing really vital nutrients. I do at least one big juice a day though, and it's getting easier. Hoping things are going well in "Karen's World" this evening! --Melissa

Melissa, I hear ya with the instant detox when you juice. My nose has been running every time I eat something raw and it's driving me crazy! I immediately get a headache whenever I eat anything too, especially fruit. (Maybe because fruit is cleansing? I don't know.) Ugh... I guess we just have to hang in there through the rain to get to the rainbow! Hope you feel better. :)
Hello Veganmomma,
Started Eating Raw About A Week And I Not Sure If Its My Imagination Or That I Really Do Have More Energy. Of Course Im Not 100% Yet. I Eat About 75%. Wondering If All These Nuts And Fruit Will Make Me Gain Weight? I Only Eat Fruit In Am. With You Being Fit And All Does It Affect Your Weight? I Assume You Work Out? As Do I. Any Suggestions For Some One Who Would Like To Lose A Few Pounds? Oh, By The Way I Still Eat Meat Fish And Red Meat Once A Week.
