Hi everybody!

I've been a member of this forum for a bit, but I failed to make an introduction. Well here goes! I'm 18, male, a freshman in college, and as you may tell from my username I'm from the mighty New York City! However, I currently reside in Canada where I am at university. I have been eating raw on and off for about a month, but starting this week I am 100% commited!

Prior to going raw I was eating a bit healthier than the SAD, but way too much protein rich foods. I started have extreme back aches, to which I figured was either a kidney or colon problem. I looked for books on detox diets, when I came across a book about raw foods. I purchased and read, cover to cover, this book (sorry it's not Alissa's book even though I read hers too I can assure you! :D) in the same day. Mind you I was not considered overweight, nor did I think I was, but in the month or so that I've introduced more and more raw foods into my diet, and by taking meat out of my diet, I lost 12 lbs, have an actual glow to my skin now, have more energy plus better sleeping habits, and best of all NO MORE BACK PAINS!

I believe this life style is the most wonderful lifestyle imaginable, and I feel so blessed to have learned of it at my age. I hope I can inspire all individuals seeking a beacon of hope regardless of age. By the way, going raw is the best way to beat the freshman 15 haha. All that's needed is a mini fridge, a juice bar, and a salad bar. I'm set here woot!

Wow! What an amazing and inspiring testimony. I, too, am a raw vegan freshman in college. I'm in Connecticut. I've gotten involved in the organic gardening club at my college, which means I get to grow and eat lots of delicious produce. You should start a club like that at your college!
I also am taking botany, and in that class we get to grow our own plants in the greenhouse. I'm growing radishes, carrots, lettuce, swiss chard and sugar snap peas :) . You may want to try to find a coop near new. I'm part of an organic and natural foods coop that is a 5 minute bike ride from my college (I don't have a car). I love it because I get to meet like-minded people AND the coop can order pretty much any raw food that I could ever want.
Best wishes to you, in school, eating, healing, love, life and happiness!

Welcome. I'm so happy every time I see another young person catching on to this health giving lifestyle. It's great to be able to forgo all the misery of diseases caused by SAD living. I wish you the best with your eating and learning, which should be much easier with totally nourished cells!:)

My school has it's own farm located 2 miles away from the main campus, so I'd love to be able to volunteer there (and get some free produce while I'm at it :)!). They also have their own market every saturday, which is a rawsome way to get local grown food, plus all that walking to and from the farm can be my exercise (or part of it ).

Sure is a great testimony from a former NYer myself--Queens.

Yes, regardless of age is a key to changing but the people like self over 50, called AARP, are clueless, most, and blame it on aging or part of the natural thing. I'm still doing Turbo kickboxing and loving it besides getting closer to my high school weight. My husband is very physical too, but not into exercise, but his business keeps him moving. I don't know about cardio workout but he can get a good one sometimes too.

Keep coming back.

I'm here in CO now between Denver/Boulder. You would love it here!
